摘要： A drying end which comprises a plurality of drying groups. Referring to FIG. 2, each drying group has its own endless support belt (171-175) which travels together with the web alternately over drying cylinders (101-138) and guide rollers. In each drying group, at least some of the drying cylinders lie in a row of cylinders (161-168) which is arranged approximately vertically. Within the first drying group (160/161) the web travels downward through a vertical cylinder row (161), the lower side of the web contacting the cylinders. In the second drying group (162/163), the web first of all travels upward, the upper side of the web contacting the cylinders. At least two drying groups have two vertical cylinder rows (162-167). Referring to these later two groups, the rows of guide rollers in one drying group are arranged outside the corresponding cylinder rows, and in the other drying group the guide rollers are arranged inside the cylinder rows.

摘要： A dryer section of a paper making machine is divided into several dryer groups, each comprising a plurality of dryer cylinders, a plurality of reversing rolls between neighboring cylinders and a respective web supporting belt wrapping around the cylinders of a dryer group. Within each dryer group, the web travels, in continuous contact with the supporting belt, alternately over the dryer cylinders and the reversing rolls so that the web comes into direct contact with the cylinders and the supporting belt comes into direct contact with the reversing rolls. The cylinders are arranged in several rows which are inclined to the vertical, alternately rearwardly and forwardly defining V-shaped double rows. The end of each row and the starting point of the following row are formed by two cylinders arranged horizontally alongside of each other. The rows of dryer cylinders succeed each other in the manner of a zig-zag line. Each inclined row comprises about three cylinders.

摘要： The dry end of a paper making machine includes a first dryer group of heatable web dryer cylinders followed by a second dryer group of heatable dryer cylinders. Each dryer cylinder has a neighboring suction guide roll. Respective first and second web support belts are provided for the first and second dryer groups. The paper web to be dried alternately passes between a dryer cylinder and the neighboring suction guide roll, such that the web comes into direct contact with the dryer cylinders. A transfer region is located between the two dryer groups at which the web is transferred from the first to the second web support belt. A displaceable guide roll in the transfer region is associated with at least one of the first and the second web support belts. The guide roll is displaceable between a position at which the support belt supports the web and another position at which the displaceable support belt is moved away from the web at one of the dryer groups, creating a free length of web between the one dryer group and a deflection roll between the dryer groups. The displaceable guide roll may be the deflection roll between the dryer groups or may be another roll past which passes the same support belt that is passing over the deflection roll. A web tip cutter is associated with the free length of the web to there produce a starting end of the web for purposes of threading.

摘要： A web drying unit, e.g. for a paper making machine, has several drying cylinders, over which a web to be dried can pass, and also several guide rolls for at least one endless supporting belt for pressing the web to be dried against the drying cylinders. Only some of the drying cylinders are provided with a drive gear connected by gears to a drive pinion, the gears being disposed inside a gear housing, which is also used to house cylinder journal pins for the drive motor. At least one of the guide rolls is also provided with a drive gear, which is connected to a drive gear of the drying cylinder. A gear housing also contains the drive gear of the guide roller and its bearing on the drive side. Only one common drive is needed for the unit, and uniform ventilation conditions are enabled to occur over the cross-direction of the paper web. To ensure no obstruction to maintenance personnel on the drive side of the unit, the drive pinion is disposed in the upper region of the gear housing.
