摘要: Toner dispensing apparatus comprising a toner hopper the walls of which form an elongated opening from which toner is capable of being dispensed and a dispensing roll to dispense toner from the hopper through the elongated opening into the developer chamber. The dispensing roll is a cylindrical resiliently deformable foam roll having a plurality of depressions of predetermined size, shape and volume uniformly disposed on the roll and being capable of holding finely divided toner. The deformable foam roll including the depressions has a thin toner impermeable surface. In a preferred embodiment, the depressions are a plurality of longitudinal surface grooves parallel to the axis of the roll and uniformly spaced around the circumference of the roll. The roll is positioned relative to top and bottom lobe members in the toner hopper such that it provides a seal between the toner hopper and the developer chamber. The lobes also provide a way for expelling toner from the deformable foam roll into the developer chamber as the roll rotates from the toner hopper past the lobe members into the elongated opening. In a specific embodiment the toner impermeable surface and the foam are formed of the same materials, the impermeable surface being formed as the continuous skin of the foam.

摘要: An attaching and securing apparatus for removably attaching a first module of an office machine to a second module thereof. The attaching and securing apparatus includes (a) a first lug member on the first module having a first set of aligning features and a first screw receiving hole; (b) a second lug member on the second module having a second screw receiving hole for aligning with the first screw receiving hole, and a second set of aligning features for aligning with the first set of aligning features; (c) a ratchet device located inside at least one of the first and the second screw receiving holes for receiving and retaining a screw inserted therethrough, the ratchet device including at least one biased and deflectable spring member having a first normal position for reducing a diameter of the at least one screw receiving hole, and a second deflected position for engaging threads of an inserted screw and for effectively retaining the inserted screw within the first and the second screw receiving holes; and (d) a removable screw for manually and easily inserting through the first and the second screw receiving holes, the screw having a root diameter, surface features, and an outside diameter essentially equal to the diameter of each of the first and the second screw receiving holes, thereby enabling easy manual securing and removable attachment of the first module of the office machine to the second module thereof.

摘要: A decurling apparatus and method to decurl a substrate in a xerography machine. The invention combines a decurling apparatus having a penetration roller with a small diameter penetrating into a belt. The penetration roller is adjustable and as it pushes into the belt, more decurling of a copy sheet will occur. A controller determines the amount of decurling that is necessary and sends an electrical signal to a driver which operates the penetration roller. The penetration roller is either pressed into or away from the decurling belt. A cam shaft is turned by a motor to cause the cams to move the penetration roller. Although the controller stores the information on the cam location, a home sensor is required to indicate home position. The cam shaft is returned to home position before adjusting the penetration roller to a new level of decurling.

摘要: A system for decurling a sheet which is being advanced in a predetermined path within a printing machine includes a mechanism for generating a flow of room ambient air. The decurling system further includes a mechanism for directing the flow of room ambient air onto the sheet. Moreover, the decurling system includes a decurler adapted to apply mechanical force to the sheet after the flow of room ambient air has been directed onto the sheet by the directing mechanism. Finally, a mechanism is included for rotating the sheet to advance the sheet to the decurler in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of the predetermined path.
