The controller is configured to carry out the processes of: determining a control input on each of the plurality of motors, inputting a drive signal according to the control input, calculating an estimated reaction force value for each of the rollers, calculating an estimated tension value for each pair of the adjacent rollers, calculating a tension control input for each pair, and calculating a state control input on a particular one of the rollers. The controller determines the control input on each of the plurality of motors based on the tension control input for each pair and the state control input on the particular roller.

摘要： A sensor signal is generated from a plurality of sensors located on a sensing roll, wherein each signal is generated when each sensor enters a first nip between the sensing roll and a rotating component during each rotation of the sensing roll. A rotating applicator rod forms forming a second nip with the sensing roll such that each sensor enters the second nip during each rotation of the sensing roll. A periodically occurring starting reference is generated associated with each rotation of the applicator rod and the signal generated by each sensor is received so that a particular one of the sensors which generated the signal is determined and one of a plurality of tracking segments is identified. The signal is stored to associate the sensor signal with the identified one tracking segment.

A rear media restraint, slideably latchable to a track in the tray, has a rack that engages with a gear train that drives an encoder gear. As the rear media restraint is adjusted for different media lengths, the rack and gear train rotate the encoder gear. The encoder gear has a plurality of encoder tracks each track having a unique binary pattern. A sensor array of a plurality of sensors corresponding to the plurality of encoder tracks has a plurality of outputs that combine to form a digital signal fed to a controller in the imaging device allowing the controller to determine a media length based in the position of the rear media restraint.

The assembly comprises a translation mechanism coupled to a contact member, a drive mechanism coupled to the translation mechanism and a position sensor for providing a signal indicative of the position of the contact member. The assembly is mounted within an imaging device so that the contact member is moved into bending contact with a cantilevered portion of a media sheet in the media path. The energy used to translate the contact member from a home position into the cantilevered portion of a media sheet in the media path to deflect the cantilevered portion is used to determine a weight of the media sheet.

Then, the sheet (P1) adsorbed to the adsorption member (29) is delivered to a registration roller (15) while winding up the adsorption member (29), and then the holding member (24) is stopped at a position where the adsorption member (29) is separated from the sheet.
