Abstract:
A Wireless Soft Switch (WSS) and method for handing off a Mobile Station (MS) from a Macrocell Base Station (MBS) to Femtocell Base Station (FBS), and a FBS and method for handing off from the FBS to another FBS, are provided. A method for handing off an MS from an MBS to a target FBS in a wireless network receiving, by a Wireless Soft Switch (WSS), a message indicating that handoff of an MS to an FBS should be performed, determining, by the WSS, one or more candidate FBSs for the handoff, determining, by the WSS, the target FBS, from the one or more candidate FBSs, to which the MS is to handoff, and exchanging messages with the MS, MBS, and the target FBS for the handoff of the MS from the MBS to the target FBS.
Abstract:
A small office/home office base transceiver station (SOHO BTS) server capable of managing interference by correlating pilot strength measurements sent by mobile devices and directing the attenuation settings for each transmit path. An array of antennas coupled to an array of transmit paths are selectively activated one at a time. When a transmit path is activated, the SOHO BTS server sets the associated variable attenuator to its maximum level. The SOHO BTS server detects whether a radio environment report or and a pilot strength measurement message (PSMM) containing information about a mobile station's pilot strength is present. When the pilot strength is greater than a predetermined value, the SOHO BTS server increases the setting on the attenuator. Otherwise, the SOHO BTS server decreases the attenuator setting until such pilot strength information is available or if the lowest attenuator setting has been set. The other transmit paths are also tested accordingly.
Abstract:
A system and method for supporting real-time services in a wireless network that uses ARQ. The system provides for discarding a packet before all the prescribed subpackets have been transmitted, and transmitting the next packet.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for efficient determination of mobile station location in a wireless network. A location register database is used by base station controllers to track the locations of mobile stations.
Abstract:
A femtocell management system can configure a femtocell base station in a wireless communications network. The femtocell management system determines a list of carriers available per a technology type, without operator action, on per county basis using the county carrier information, Macro database information and resource configuration table. The femtocell management system transmits the list of carriers available per a technology type to the femtocell base station and list of common carriers used by Macro base stations on a county level. The femtocell base station can receive this information and can select an operation carrier from the list of carriers available per a technology type on a county level. The femtocell base station also can use the list of carriers to determine locally available carriers. If no available carriers exist, the femtocell base station can select an operation carrier based on common carriers used by Overlay Macro base stations.

Abstract:
Reaction gases such as hydrogen, oxygen and propylene are reacted in a slurry of solid catalyst in solvent, the reaction being carried out in a series of separate zones with intermediate removal of the exothermic heat of reaction by indirect heat exchange.
Abstract:
A method and system for optimizing the transmit power within a wireless network. The required change in transmit power of a home base station is determined by measured pilot strengths at the home mobile stations and/or at foreign mobiles stations, both from the home base station and a macro base station, and by desired pilot strengths or a desired ratio of pilot strengths. These transmit power adjustments by the home base station minimize the interference to foreign mobile stations served by macro base stations and by other home base stations, while optimizing coverage for home mobile stations served by the home base station.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for registering a wireless mobile station in a wireless communication system. The wireless mobile station sends and receives registration messages in a traffic channel. A traffic channel registration controller in a base station sends and receives registration messages in a traffic channel. The traffic channel registration controller communicates with a mobile switching center and causes the mobile switching center to register the mobile station. A registration accepted order is sent to the mobile station in a traffic channel to confirm a successful registration of the mobile station.
