A shock sensing tool for use with well perforating can include a generally tubular structure which is fluid pressure balanced, at least one strain sensor which senses strain in the structure, and a pressure sensor which senses pressure external to the structure. A well system can include a perforating string including multiple perforating guns and at least one shock sensing tool, with the shock sensing tool being interconnected in the perforating string between one of the perforating guns and at least one of: a) another of the perforating guns, and b) a firing head.
Abstract:
A portable lock box for enclosing and organizing a plurality of fishing rods with securement means to a base structure. A rectangular box is disclosed with a lockable, hinged roof and cut-outs that accommodate fishing rod penetrations on both lengthwise sides of the box. The box provides a secure container for transporting, protecting and housing a series of fishing rods. Securement means along the bottom of the box are accessible from the box interior and provide mounting points for the assembly to a base structure, preventing theft or movement during transportation. Fishing reels are housed within the internal cavity of the box to prevent theft and to protect them from external damage.
Abstract:
An improved ESD protection device, integrated circuit and method for programmably altering a sensitivity of the ESD protection device is provided herein. More specifically, an active shunt ESD protection device is provided with an improved trigger circuit design. The improved trigger circuit design enables the sensitivity of the ESD protection device to be altered by providing a variety of programmable elements for adjusting an RC time constant of a slew rate detector contained therein. The programmable elements allow the RC time constant to be altered at the wafer or package level, and avoid the significant time and cost typically associated with conventional trial-and-error adjustment procedures.
Abstract:
Thin flexible piezoelectric transducers are bonded to or imbedded into oilfield tubular members or structural members. The transducers may be used to telemeter data as acoustic waves through the members. By proper spacing of transducers and phasing of driving signals, the transmitted signals can be directionally enhanced or encoded to improve transmission efficiency. The transducers may be used for health monitoring of the tubular or structural members to detect cracks, delaminations, or other defects. The flexible transducers are very thin so that overall dimensions of tubular or structural members are essentially unchanged by incorporation of the transducers.
Abstract:
A method and system for producing an item comparison may initially include obtaining data based on user activity that is indicative of an item and other items likely to be comparable to the item, and recording the data for later access. An item comparison may thereafter present an item of interest to the user along with other items identified based on the recorded data. Prior to producing the item comparison, the user may be provided at least one list of potentially comparable items that can be selected for the item comparison, the list including items in the recorded data that are likely to be comparable to the item of interest. The recorded data may be specific to the user or may include data obtained from other users. Data reflecting user activity with an item comparison may be recorded as additional data indicative of comparable items.
Abstract:
An inlet for an environmental air monitor is described wherein a pre-separator interfaces with ambient environment air and removes debris and insects commonly associated with high wind outdoors and a deflector plate in communication with incoming air from the pre-separator stage, that directs the air radially and downward uniformly into a plurality of accelerator jets located in a manifold of a virtual impactor, the manifold being cylindrical and having a top, a base, and a wall, with the plurality of accelerator jets being located in the top of the manifold and receiving the directed air and accelerating directed air, thereby creating jets of air penetrating into the manifold, where a major flow is deflected to the walls of the manifold and extracted through ports in the walls. A plurality of receiver nozzles are located in the base of the manifold coaxial with the accelerator jets, and a plurality of matching flow restrictor elements are located in the plurality of receiver nozzles for balancing and equalizing the total minor flow among all the plurality of receiver nozzles, through which a lower, fractional flow extracts large particle constituents of the air for collection on a sample filter after passing through the plurality of receiver nozzles and the plurality of matching flow restrictor elements.
Abstract:
An apparatus for mounting objects within a panel hole, and method of use, the apparatus comprising a housing having a flanged opening in one end and a plurality of flat coil springs each having a free inner end and an outside edge attached to the housing adjacent to the flange so that upon installation of the housing into the panel hole, the flange engages the exposed surface of the panel and the springs become biased against the hidden panel surface for secure vibration-resistant mounting of the housing within the hole, as well as rapid releasable installation and removal of the housing from panels of any thickness dimension. The apparatus can be made theft-resistant through placement of apertures in the flange, use of an installation and removal tool for unrolling the springs so that they are stretched to rapidly pass through the flange apertures, and creation of slight inward folds in the free inner ends of each coil spring for engaging the tool, or for engaging the panel if removal of the housing is attempted without the tool. The present invention can be used with panels of any thickness, when installed it is vibration-resistant, and it can be securely positioned within inaccurately cut panel holes. Easily detachable springs are also contemplated in the theft-resistant embodiment. Applications may include, but are not limited to, use in the rapid releasable mounting of lighting fixtures within ceiling panels, as well as the vibration-resistant mounting of industrial and motor vehicle gauges.
Abstract:
An exhaust nozzle (10) for a gas turbine engine is described for vectoring a flow of exhaust gases issuing therefrom at an angle to a centre line (8) of the engine. The exhaust nozzle (10) comprises a plurality of radially outer flaps (25) and radially inner flaps (26) which are circumferentially disposed around the engine. The radially outer flaps (25) and radially inner flaps (26) alternately overlap each other to define a path through which the exhaust gases flow. The radially outer flaps (25) can be moved asymmetrically about the engine centre line (8). The radially inner flaps (26) are maintained in sealing contact with the outer flaps (25) by the flow of exhaust gases passing therethrough. The radially inner flaps (26) are divided into a number of triangular sections (29) which renders the flaps (26) torsionally flexible so that they can twist along their lengths to maintain sealing contact with adjacent radially outer flaps (25) when the outer flaps (25) are moved asymmetrically.
