    摘要: The invention relates to a method for the transfer of policy control information during handover in a communication system. A session between a terminal and a remote node via a first network node has been established previously. The session comprising media components transmitted via the first gateway using first media component bearers. A handover condition is detected and a signaling connection is established between the terminal and the second gateway. Information on a second network node is obtained by the terminal, which determines if a proxy for the session has changed. If it has, information on media components is sent to a policy decision entity associated with the second network node. The policy decision entity authorizes second media component bearers with the information provided. Finally, the second media component bearers are established between the terminal and the second gateway.

    摘要: A method in a communication system is disclosed. In the method a procedure for setting up a communication link between a first user equipment and a second user equipment via a communications network is initiated. Information regarding at least two modes of communication that can be used for communication via the communication link is signalled between the first and second user equipment. An indicator regarding a mode to be used for the communication is also signalled between the first user equipment and the second user equipment. After the signalling steps, a procedure for setting the mode of communication in accordance with the indicator is initiated in at least in one of the user equipment. According to an alternative embodiment signalling for reserving a possibility for at least tow different communication modes occurs between elements of the communication system.

    摘要: A channel configuration of a digital mobile system comprises two or more lower-rate transmission channels for each high-speed radio interface traffic channel at the network interface between a base station and an interworking function. Radio frames, such as EDGE frames, are transferred on a radio interface traffic channel. Transmission frames, such as TRAU frames, are transferred on transmission channels. The total data rate at the network interface is greater than the data rate at the radio interface. According to the invention, the total data rates of the network interface and the radio interface are rate-adapted by transferring fill data in transmission frames in addition to payload between the base station and the interworking function, such that the average data rate of the payload at the network interface corresponds to the total data rate at the radio interface, and the combined total data rate of the fill data and the payload corresponds to the total data rate at the network interface.

    摘要: The invention relates to radio systems and particularly to non-transparent data transmission in a mobile communication system where a mobile services switching center and a radio access network belong to different system generations. A second-generation mobile services switching center is also provided with a protocol unit supporting a radio link protocol of a third-generation radio access network. In such a case the radio link protocol is set up between the mobile station and the mobile services switching center without a radio link protocol conversion in an interworking unit of the radio access network. The radio access network merely transmits the radio link protocol transparently between the mobile station and the mobile services switching center, i.e. it extends the protocol to the mobile services switching center. When a handover of a non-transparent call is carried out between two radio access networks, the same radio link protocol units (in the mobile station and in the mobile services switching center) also remain after the handover. Possibly ongoing sequences of selective retransmissions and retransmission requests of the radio link protocol are not interrupted or disturbed, wherefore it is also possible to avoid the manipulation of buffer synchronization which might possibly lead to retransmission complications and loss or doubling of data as a result of the handover.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a network system, in which data is transmitted in the form of transmission frames, the system including a network control unit (4) for controlling communication in the network and a terminal (2) for receiving and transmitting data from/to the network control unit (4). When the network control unit (4) receives a request for changing from a first user data rate to a second user data rate it adds/deletes fill data (FD) to/from a transmission frame corresponding to the requested change in the user data rate for transmitting data to the terminal (2) at the second user data rate. The terminal (2) detects the change in the amount of fill data (FD) and changes the user data rate transmitted to the network control unit (4) according to the detected change. In this system, it is possible to smoothly change the data rate without affecting the quality of service.
