Abstract:
A liquid discharge head includes a plurality of nozzles arrayed in a nozzle array direction to discharge a liquid; a plurality of pressure chambers arrayed in the nozzle array direction and communicating with the plurality of nozzles, respectively; and a diaphragm forming a displaceable wall of each of the plurality of pressure chambers. The diaphragm includes a concave portion outside an arrangement region of the plurality of pressure chambers in which the plurality of pressure chambers is arrayed in the nozzle array direction.
Abstract:
A liquid discharge head includes a head body, a wiring member, a connector, and a protector. The head body discharges liquid. The wiring member transmits a signal to the head body. The connector is disposed at the wiring member to connect the wiring member to the head body. The protector covers the head body and the connector. The head body includes a fitting portion. The protector includes a fitting portion to fit the fitting portion of the head body in a fitting direction. The connector is disposed more backward than a leading end of the fitting portion of the protector in the fitting direction.
Abstract:
A hydrogel soft contact lens which is superior in extended-wearability, lens movement, wear comfort, and which does not adhere to a cornea when worn is provided. The lens provided can be a silicone hydrogel contact lens which contains units of hydrophilic siloxane monomers and amide-group-containing monomers having an N-vinyl group.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a novel TGF-β signaling mechanism implicated in craniofacial malformation as well as methods and compositions for treating craniofacial malformation utilizing knowledge of the mechanism. Methods of the invention generally comprises administering an effective amount of a TGF-β inhibitor to a subject in need of the treatment. Also disclosed are methods for treating craniofacial malformation by administering Tgf-β, Tgf-βRIII, p38 MAPK inhibitor or neutralizing antibodies to a subject. Also disclosed is a diagnostic method for diagnosing patients at risk of developing craniofacial malformation by determining the level of Tgf-β2 and ectopic p38 MAPK activation. Compounds useful for treating craniofacial malformation may also be discovered by using animal models of the present invention.
Abstract:
A mold for producing a soft contact lens, wherein the mold is capable of forming both front and rear surfaces of the lens from a surface of the mold during polymerization of a monomer composition.
Abstract:
Ophthalmically compatible contact lenses include lens bodies configured for placement on a cornea of an animal or human eye. The lens bodies are made of a hydrophilic silicon-containing polymeric material. The lens bodies have oxygen permeabilities, water content, surface wettabilities, flexibilities, and/or designs to be worn by a lens wearer even during sleep. The present lenses can be worn on a daily basis, including overnight, or can be worn for several days, such as about thirty days, without requiring removal or cleaning.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: a piezoelectric element with a common electrode on one side and an individual electrode on another side; a nozzle; and circuitry. The circuitry selects one from drive signals and supplies the one drive signal to the piezoelectric element via the individual electrode, to discharge a droplet through the nozzle to form an image. Each drive signal includes waveform pulses including a main pulse that rises in a slope shape during a rising time and finishes rising at an end time. The circuitry generates the drive signals so that the end time of a less influential drive signal other than a most influential drive signal falls within a range of the rising time of the main pulse of the most influential drive signal; selects the one drive signal based on an image to be formed; and supplies the one drive signal to the piezoelectric element.
Abstract:
A liquid discharge head includes a nozzle to discharge a liquid, an individual chamber communicating with the nozzle, a supply channel communicating with the individual chamber to supply the liquid to the individual chamber, and a discharge channel communicating with the individual chamber to discharge the liquid in the individual chamber. A fluid resistance of the supply channel is greater than a fluid resistance of the discharge channel.
Abstract:
A liquid discharge head includes a plurality of nozzles from which liquid is discharged, a plurality of individual-liquid-chambers communicating with the plurality of nozzles, respectively, a plurality of individual-drainage-channels communicating with the plurality of individual-liquid-chambers, respectively, a drainage-side common-liquid-chamber communicating with each of the plurality of individual-drainage-channels, a filter having filter holes and disposed between the plurality of individual-drainage-channels and the drainage-side common-liquid-chamber, and an intermediate-drainage-channel disposed between the filter and the plurality of individual-drainage-channels. The intermediate-drainage-channel faces the filter and communicates with two or more of the plurality of individual-drainage-channels. A cross-sectional area of the intermediate-drainage-channel is greater than a cross-sectional area of each of the plurality of individual-drainage-channels communicating with the intermediate-drainage-channel in a direction perpendicular to a direction of liquid flow.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVEDTo provide an ophthalmic lens, which can be more safely worn, that is, to provide a material, which is transparent and has high oxygen permeability and a high hydrophilic property, and to provide a novel monomer to be a raw material thereof.SOLUTIONA hydrophilic polysiloxane macromonomer contains polyoxyethylene as a hydrophilic side chains in a polysiloxane main chain, wherein transparency, oxygen permeability, and hydrophilic properties of the material are controlled by regulating the length of the polysiloxane main chain, the length of the hydrophilic polyoxyethylene side chains, and the number of the side chains.
