Abstract:
A transfer swivel connector assembly for connecting two insulated fluid conduits which provides an evacuated space around the conduit connection within the swivel assembly to form a highly efficient insulating layer and incorporates bearing means to allow virtually friction-free rotational movement of the two conduits relative to each other about a desired axis. The swivel assembly further provides dynamic secondary sealing means to prevent the escape of fluid from the connector should the primary transfer passage connection develop a leak.
Abstract:
A real time display of the optical spectrum of an incident beam of electromagnetic radiation is obtained by dispersing the beam into its component frequencies and focusing the dispersed component frequencies onto the face of a video pickup camera. Two different focal lengths are used for the dispersion means to provide either a complete optical spectrum or a partial optical spectrum on the face of the camera. The camera is scanned horizontally with each horizontal scan being displaced vertically to form a raster pattern scan even though the optical pattern on the camera face does not vary in the vertical direction. This provides greatly increased sensitivity and allows a narrower bandwidth video amplifier. The output of the amplifier and the horizontal scan control signals are applied to an auxiliary oscilloscope which displays the optical spectrum in an X-Y pattern.
Abstract:
A miniaturized electromagnetic interposer assembly is described capable of high speed operation from electronic trigger pulses and having coil-interposer arrays of dimensions suitable for direct positioning alongside a set of standard paper tape punches stacked in parallel groups for ten punch positions per inch. An interposer member electromagnetically moved between two stable positions includes a semiflexible twisted leaf spring stiff in the direction of movement of an electromagnetically moved member and flexible in the direction of movement of punches in their cutting stroke. The interposers and a punch drive comb assembly attain side by side positions in a notch cut into the side of a punch pin shaft.
Abstract:
Radial charge migration in the field emitting injector/collector interspace region of flowing liquid electrostatic generators is significantly reduced by forming a sheath of uncharged liquid with a high axial velocity concentric with the charged liquid leaving the injector, thereby sweeping to the collector any charge carriers which undergo radial charge migration.
Abstract:
In an electrohydrodynamic generator, a collector extension covers the collector/injector interspace region and prevents radial dispersion of charge carriers. The collector extension is tubular leaving the main body of the collector and opens into a wide mouth at the top of the injector assembly. The mouth is even with or extends past the top of the injector assembly.
