Abstract:
A method of automatically selecting at least one of stored multimedia files for transfer between a first storage medium and a second storage medium. In the method, each stored file is assigned a popularity weighting based on popularity information and files are selected that have a popularity weighting within a preferred range.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for calibrating or adjusting an accelerometer, wherein the accelerometer is held stationary to obtain the signal outputs from the accelerometer, representing component vectors making up the composite vector of 1 g. Thus, gain or sensitivity, and the zero-g signal offset along for each axis of the accelerometer is determined and adjustable.
Abstract:
A person's exercise monitored using an accelerometer to detect and count the steps of the person. Furthermore, acceleration profiling distinguishes walking from running and total distance covered in the exercise is estimated using different stride lengths for walking and running. The person's pace may be maintained using a music playback unit with an adjustable rate of playback to influence the pace of the person with the music tempo.

Abstract:
A noninvasive light sensor for detecting heart beat signals has a circular support member engageable circumferentially with a body part of a person. Light emitters and light detectors are located around a circumference of the circular support member for respectively emitting light signals into different areas of tissue surrounding the body part, and detecting reflected light signals from the different areas of tissue surrounding the body part.

Abstract:
A musical jukebox is disclosed which provides for: fast archiving of songs; a flexible user interface; easy and convenient entry of, access to and/or display of data relating to songs archived by the jukebox; easy and convenient search and locate capabilities for locating, reviewing, retrieving and/or playing songs stored in the jukebox; and low cost relative to the functionality, features, conveniences and user-friendliness provided by the jukebox. Fast of flush archiving of songs (as well as other data and signals) is accomplished by first saving sets of data without compression, which allows the data to be entered quickly, and then, compressing later at an appropriate time. A unique MP3 bit allocation encoding scheme is used to compress data. A unique memory allocation supports fast data archiving. The user interface employs two-way communication between a remote control and the jukebox. A searchable song database is structured to enable very fast searching by music category, and also by title and artist. The jukebox is provided with an on-board song track database to automatically identify new songs input to the jukebox.
Abstract:
A display device has a screen for displaying digital images located on a housing that encloses a storage medium for storing the digital images, and a processor for performing functions such reading images from the storage medium and displaying the images on the display screen. A frame detachably securable to the housing surrounds the display screen, and electronically communicates with the processor when secured to the housing for configuring how the processor performs the functions of the display device.

Abstract:
A personal audio player has a housing, an audio output device in the housing and an audio player in the housing and coupled with the output device for storing and playing audio files. Multiple display panels are located on the housing. Each display panel is controlled to have a unique presentation format for presenting different information to a user. A user interface on the housing has different illumination colors respectively corresponding to different operation modes of the audio player. A lyrics processor outputs lyric text to one of the display panels in synchronisation with playing of a corresponding audio file.
