Abstract:
A display device has a screen for displaying digital images located on a housing that encloses a storage medium for storing the digital images, and a processor for performing functions such reading images from the storage medium and displaying the images on the display screen. A frame detachably securable to the housing surrounds the display screen, and electronically communicates with the processor when secured to the housing for configuring how the processor performs the functions of the display device.
Abstract:
A noninvasive light sensor for detecting heart beat signals has a circular support member engageable circumferentially with a body part of a person. Light emitters and light detectors are located around a circumference of the circular support member for respectively emitting light signals into different areas of tissue surrounding the body part, and detecting reflected light signals from the different areas of tissue surrounding the body part.
Abstract:
An earplug-type earphone is disclosed including: an earplug (10) for producing sound and an elastic support (30). The earplug (10) includes a front housing (200) and a rear housing (500) connected in that order. The elastic support (30) is positioned on an outer side of the rear housing (500). When the earplug (10) is inserted in the external auditory canal, the elastic support (30) is pressed and deformed and then applies resilience to the helix, by which the earplug can be stably positioned in the external auditory canal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for calibrating or adjusting an accelerometer, wherein the accelerometer is held stationary to obtain the signal outputs from the accelerometer, representing component vectors making up the composite vector of 1 g. Thus, gain or sensitivity, and the zero-g signal offset along for each axis of the accelerometer is determined and adjustable.
Abstract:
A person's exercise monitored using an accelerometer to detect and count the steps of the person. Furthermore, acceleration profiling distinguishes walking from running and total distance covered in the exercise is estimated using different stride lengths for walking and running. The person's pace may be maintained using a music playback unit with an adjustable rate of playback to influence the pace of the person with the music tempo.

Abstract:
A method of providing media content for a portable media player makes available in a database entertainment content and message content for downloading and storing on a portable media player. The message content is downloaded and stored on the media player with the entertainment content for playing on the media player in connection with playing of the entertainment content. The play data for entertainment content and/or message content stored on the media player is uploading to the database or another database.
