摘要： A spiral-wound tip is presented for use on a walking assistance device, a robotic arm or digit, or other device needing a slip-resistant point of contact with its environment. The tip is constructed by winding a sheet of rubber or other elastic material into a spiral plug. The plug can be mounted within a hole at the extremity of a device. Alternatively, the sheet can be wrapped around the exterior of the extremity. The lamina of the spiral-wound plug separate upon impact with an object, increasing the gripping power of the tip.

摘要： A system and method for burnishing the edges and corners of hard disk drive sliders uses a combination of flexible tape fixturing and mechanical protrusions located beneath the tape to systematically orient selected slider corners and edges to be exposed to an abrasive in a flexible manner. This solution carefully exposes the sliders even when there is very little clearance between the sliders. A variety of different rounding geometries are achieved by customizing the protrusions underneath the flexible tape. Multiple slider corners and/or edges are exposed to the abrasive at one time for bulk processing. The sliders are oriented in such a way that sensitive structures located on the air bearing surfaces of the sliders are not harmed during burnishing.

摘要： Apparatus is provided for automatically dispensing CO.sub.2 snow on articles moved by a conveyer underneath a snow storage container-dispenser outlet opening. The dispensing is controlled by a motor driven segmented drum with brush-like elastic blades closing the dispenser outlet opening actuated when an article is moved into place thereunder. The snow is generated from liquid CO.sub.2 flowing through cooling coils in the snow and dispensed through a nozzle in the upper portion of the container in response to capacity sensing means such as a photocell level detector to thereby keep the container snow level constant.
