摘要: Provided are an enamel coating method and apparatus. The enamel coating method includes (a) preprocessing a surface of the metal tube by feeding the metal tube into a preprocessing chamber by an in-feed conveyor; (b) coating the surface of the metal tube with an enamel glaze supplied from an enamel glaze supply nozzle provided inside a coating chamber by feeding the preprocessed metal tube into the coating chamber; and (c) firing the coated metal tube by feeding the coated metal tube into a firing chamber, wherein the (b) coating includes spraying air toward the metal tube by an air spray nozzle provided inside the coating chamber.

摘要: Metal products having improved properties and processes for preparing the metal products are provided. In an embodiment, the present disclosure provides for a metal product comprising a metal surface, an oxide layer and a glass layer. The glass layer is provided by coating a stable aqueous silicate or borosilicate solution onto the metal surface and curing the aqueous solution to produce a glass layer. The metal products have surface characteristics that outperform current anodized metal surfaces.

摘要: The present invention is related to a method for producing an enamelled steel substrate, said method comprising the steps of: providing a steel substrate, applying to a surface of said steel substrate a solution comprising a solvent, a polymer precursor, and at least one metal or metal oxide, said metal or metal oxide being suitable for promoting the adhesion of an enamel layer to the surface of the steel substrate, curing said steel sheet, thereby removing said solvent, and forming an organic layer comprising said at least one metal or metal oxide, applying to said organic layer, an enamel layer, followed by a firing step, to obtain the enamelled steel substrate.

摘要: Disclosed are compositions and methods for alleviating the problem of reaction of lithium or other alkali or alkaline earth metals with incompatible processing and operating environments by creating a ionically conductive chemical protective layer on the lithium or other reactive metal surface. Such a chemically produced surface layer can protect lithium metal from reacting with oxygen, nitrogen or moisture in ambient atmosphere thereby allowing the lithium material to be handled outside of a controlled atmosphere, such as a dry room. Production processes involving lithium are thereby very considerably simplified. One example of such a process is the processing of lithium to form negative electrodes for lithium metal batteries.

摘要: The invention concerns a method which consists in: providing a protective treatment against corrosion to the initial sheet metal using an aqueous emulsion containing colloids based on acrylic and/or methacrylic polymer; a step which consists in applying a coat of liquid enamelling composition comprising an enamel frit capable of being vitrified; a baking step adapted to vitrify said frit. The invention is characterised in that said method does not comprise a step for degreasing said surface subsequent to the protective treatment. The invention provides the advantages of improved adherence of the enamel and a simpler process.

摘要: A process and product are disclosed relating to the preparation of a metallic substrate of a workpiece for a subsequent deposition of a ceramic coating, such as porcelain enamel, in which the metal of the substrate is one that is not sufficiently electrochemically active to be coated by electrophoresis, for example, stainless steel or those alloys containing principally nickel and/or chromium. In one form, the metallic substrate is first covered with an oxide, and preferably a thermally decomposable compound, of a transition metal selected from Groups IIIB through Group IIB of the Periodic Table of The Elements. The workpiece is then heated to alloy the transition metal with the substrate of the workpiece, after which a ceramic coat may be applied. When the transition metal is present as a thermally decomposable compound, the compound must decompose prior to reaching an alloying temperature.

摘要: An improved surface on sheet steel having a carbon content below 0.01%, preferably below 0.003%, for subsequent porcelain enameling or the deposition of a metal or organic, e.g., paint, coating thereon or in preparation of the sheet steel for a subsequent laminating operation, is provided by subjecting the sheet steel having a carbon content below about 0.1% by weight to oxidation in the presence of air under conditions to build up on the surface of the sheet steel undergoing oxidation an oxide layer having a thickness in the range 0.1-1.5 mils and such that the oxidized sheet steel exhibits a gain in weight of at least about 0.5 grams per square foot of oxidized surface, followed by subjecting the resulting oxidized sheet steel to reduction in an atmosphere consisting essentially of nitrogen and hydrogen, preferably at a temperature isothermal with the aforesaid oxidation temperature, such as at a temperature in the range 1000*-1500*F., to reduce substantially all of the oxide layer to metal and then subjecting the resulting oxidized-reduced sheet steel to decarburization at a temperature in the range 1000*1500*F. in an atmosphere consisting essentially of nitrogen, hydrogen and water vapor.
