摘要: A semi-finished lens of plastic material which will be ground on the basis of a spectacles prescription to be completed as a myopia correcting single-focus lens is molded such that the convex surface is a spherical nonprocessed surface and the concave surface is a nonspherical molded surface which requires no grinding. Thus, a completed lens can be easily obtained by simply grinding the spherical convex surface. Further, the concave surface which is a nonspherical molded surface is formed as an ellipsoidal surface of revolution, hyperboloidal surface of revolution or other nonspherical surface which has a curvature providing spherical power or a combination of spherical power and astimgatic power and whose curvature decreases from the optical center toward the periphery, whereby the difficulty of grinding can be decreased and the completed lens is free from the warping of images due to spherical aberration and has an edge which is thin and makes a better appearance.

摘要: A base lens of a polyurethane resin comprising a polyisocyanate compound and a polythiol, a sulfur-containing polyol or the like is coated with a primer layer having a thickness sufficient for shock absorption, an organosiloxane-type, hard coat layer having a refractive index of 1.47 or more, and optionally a thin metal layer in that order. As having this constitution, the plastic lens has a mechanical strength resistant to striking energy of not smaller than 4 times the striking energy value of the FDA Standard, 0.204 joules, when the center thickness of the lens is from 0.7 mm to less than 1.2 mm. Since the latitude in the acceptable range for the conditions for the processing of the lens (relative to the thickness of each constitutive layer) is large, the producibility of the lens is high. An inhomogeneous layer may be formed between the adjacent layers, which reduces the reflectivity of the lens for transmitting light and prevents the formation of interference fringes in the lens. An ultraviolet absorbent, if added to the hard coat layer, can cut off ultraviolet rays, while preventing the base lens and the coat layers from being aged, and is helpful in protecting eyeballs.

摘要: A plastic lens which has high hardness and excellent scratch resistance and can form a transparent and uniform reflection preventing film through vacuum deposition, is produced by mixing(a) diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate) with(b) at least one of organic peroxides having a decomposition temperature at selected half-life value for ten hours of not higher than 80.degree. C. and(c) at least one of specifically limited peroxycarbonates having a radical copolymerizability to the diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate) (a), as a polymerization initiator, and polymerizing and casting the resulting mixture in a desired lens-forming mold.

摘要: Lenses are provided in an assortment of frequently used prescriptions and are preground to a desired final contour. The lenses are optionally provided with a lug, temple and modern and with a split bridge member attached thereto to provided a half eyeglass assembly. Alternately, the parts may be provided unassembled. Proper lenses are selected on the basis of a prescription by a consumer and are assembled by the consumer to form a completed pair of eyeglasses. A bridge assembled from the split bridge members is adjustable to set a desired interpupillary distance. The positions of holes for attaching the bridge and lug to the lenses are line-symmetrical with respect to a vertical axis of each lens so as to allow the lens to be used as either a right or left lens.
