When detecting a touch-down, the mobile terminal displays a character of the touch-down point and nearby characters in an enlarged size and indicates the character of the touch-down point in the enlarged display. When a drag event occurs before a touch-up event, the mobile terminal determines the dragging distance and direction, changes the touch-down point to a new location according to the dragging distance and direction, and indicates another character at the new location. When a touch-up event occurs at the new location, the mobile terminal then inputs the other character indicated at the new location.

An apparatus and method for analyzing the spectrum of a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical signal, in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical transmission systems, are provided. An optical filter includes an input unit for receiving a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical signal via an optical transmission medium and outputting optical signals that have different incidence angles according to the wavelengths of the optical signals. Also, the optical filter includes a filter for receiving the optical signals from the input unit and separating the WDM optical signal into optical signals having different wavelengths using the difference between resonance lengths according to the different incidence angles. In order to analyze the spectrum of an optical signal, the optical signal is made incident upon etalon at different incidence angles according to the wavelengths of the optical signal, and the resonance length between two mirrors of etalon is varied according to the wavelengths of the optical signal. Accordingly, an optical spectrum can be obtained by detecting optical signals having different wavelengths.

A method and apparatus for Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation is configured to automatically set an optimal GPS reception period and optimal map contents according to a moving speed of a user in a navigation system using a GPS terminal. When the moving speed of the user is considered, power efficiency is increased by optimizing a GPS reception period in terms of hardware and system load is decreased by reducing an unnecessary system operation in terms of software. User convenience is maximized by optimizing map contents requested by the user according to a moving speed in real time and displaying the optimized map contents.
