A method and apparatus for processing enhanced media data in a Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) system is provided. The apparatus for processing enhanced media data includes: a base layer processing unit configured to multiplex an elementary stream of a base layer and perform channel encoding for the multiplexed elementary stream of the base layer; an enhancement layer processing unit configured to synchronize an elementary stream of an enhancement layer with the elementary stream of the base layer and thereby multiplex the elementary stream of the enhancement layer and process the elementary stream of the enhancement layer to be transmittable via at least one of a plurality of transmission channels; and a synchronizer configured to provide the enhancement layer processing unit with synchronization information that is used for synchronizing the elementary stream of the enhancement layer with the elementary stream of the base layer.

Disclosed are a streaming service and a playback device using a scalable video coding (SVC) server that provides a 3-screen or n-screen service using an SVC technology. Here, n may be a number greater than 3. A streaming service and terminal playing system using an SVC server may provide a single video content by constructing a single bit stream to have various spatial resolutions and qualities such as a high-definition (HD) level, a standard definition (SD) level, an H.264 level, and the like, and various frame-rates, thereby receiving a bit stream in a receiving terminal, and restoring and playing the bit stream so as to provide an optimal service to a terminal in various network environments and having various characteristics.

A broadcasting service monitoring apparatus includes: a stream separation unit to extract a partial stream from an inputted 3D stream and separate detailed stream configuration and service-related information and a stream for 3D video service from the 3D stream; a configuration information analysis unit to minutely analyze the separated service-related information and the separated stream for 3D video service; a 2D image decoding unit to decode the separated stream for 3D video service into a predetermined image; an image separation unit to separate one screen of the decoded predetermined image into two screens and generate two images; a 3D image reproduction unit to reproduce the generated two images; a depth information extraction unit to extract depth information for 3D video service from the generated two images; and a 3D information representation unit to represent the analyzed values and the extracted depth information.
