摘要： The invention provides a system and method for updating a resource to an electronic device. The method provisions a resource to an electronic device by: (a) maintaining the resource at a remote server from the device; and (b) after a triggering event, providing a data transmission to the device containing access information for the resource. The system incorporates the method and comprises: a resource providing information for the device; a server to maintain the resource; a communication link providing the device with access to the resource; a data transmission module for extracting and transmitting access information about the resource to the device; and a data processing module for processing the received information at the device. In the device, a GUI provides information on a topic retrieved from local storage on the device and additional information about the resource is incorporated into the GUI for that topic.

The wireless cellular wide area network components may include a detachable wireless cellular transceiver to support wireless network interfaces when detached from the router, such as wireless cellular for voice telephone communication or a wireless card for single information handling system communication with the wireless cellular network. Alternatively, the wireless cellular wide area network components may integrate a transceiver that is authorized to communicate with the wireless cellular wide area network by a detachable authorization module, such as a SIM module of a wireless cellular.

摘要： A wireless network is provided including a wireless access point (WAP) information handling system (IHS) that communicates with client IHSs via wireless information links. The WAP IHS determines the priority of a communication request from a client IHS and the link rate of that client IHS. The WAP IHS also determines the wireless network bandwidth that is available to the client IHS to carry out the requested communication. If the available network bandwidth is not greater than a threshold needed to assure a predetermined level of quality of service (QoS) for the requested communication, then countermeasures are engaged to free up network bandwidth.

In addition, the activation key may include information for authenticating wireless communication between the wireless agent and a wireless access point.

The method comprises at the mobile electronic device: generating and sending a network registration request to the server to allow the server to determine whether the mobile electronic device is in a device registry linking resources managed by the server; waiting for a data transmission from the server, the data transmission containing text and a link to the resource that can receive the data transmission at the mobile electronic device; incorporating text and a link from the data transmission into a graphical user interface (GUI) generated on a display of the mobile electronic device to provide an interface to activate the link from the mobile electronic device; and generating an indicator on the GUI that the resource is new, if the resource is new to the mobile electronic device.
