    摘要: A system and method for categorizing color palettes are provided. A taxonomy for a particular type of achromatic entity, such as emotions, is generated and populated with a list of terms. Natural language terms extracted from annotated color palettes are associated with the corresponding achromatic entity categories in the taxonomy. Features are extracted from the color palettes. The features, together with the category information, are used to train a classifier which is then able to assign achromatic entities to palettes outside the training set, based on extracted features.

    摘要: A method for color transfer includes retrieving a concept color palette from computer memory corresponding to a concept selected by a user. The concept color palette includes a first set of colors, which may be statistically representative of colors of a set of predefined color palettes which have been associated with the concept. The method further includes computing an image color palette for an input image. The image color palette includes a second set of colors that are representative of pixels of the input image. Colors of the image color palette are mapped to colors of the concept color palette to identify, for colors of the image color palette, a corresponding color in the concept color palette. A transformation is computed based on the mapping. For pixels of the input image, modified color values are computed, based on the computed transformation, to generate a modified image.

The graphic objects can be photographic images which are retrieved in response to a query and are clustered, based on values of first and second user-selected features assigned to the graphic objects. A user can manipulate a target window displayed on the navigation map using the tactile user interface. The target window encompasses a subset of the clustered graphic objects. A synchronized display of graphic objects in the subset of graphic objects on the user interface corresponds to the subset of clustered graphic objects within the displayed target window.

    摘要: A system and method for ranking images are provided. The method includes receiving a query comprising a semantic part and an abstract part, retrieving a set of images responsive to the semantic part of the query, and computing first scores for the retrieved images in the set of retrieved images. The first score of an image can be based on a relevance of that image to the semantic part of the query (and not to the abstract part of the query). The method further includes identifying a chromatic concept model from a set of chromatic concept models. This identification can be based on the abstract part of the query (and not on the semantic part of the query). The chromatic concept model includes an optionally-weighted set of colors expressed in a perceptually uniform color space. For retrieved images in the set of retrieved images, the method includes computing a chromatic image model based on colors of the image, the chromatic image model comprising a weighted set of colors expressed in the perceptually uniform color space and computing a comparison measure between the chromatic image model and the chromatic concept model. The retrieved images are scored with respective second scores that are based on the computed comparison measures. The retrieved images are ranked based on a combined score for a respective retrieved image which is a function of the first and second scores.

For an image which is identified as being a seascape, the method includes automatically assigning an enhancement class for the image, selected from a plurality of enhancement classes, the classes comprising a first enhancement class for sea landscape images and a second enhancement class for portrait images. The image is processed to generate an enhanced image. Where the image is assigned to the first enhancement class, this includes applying a first enhancement chain, which may include applying a polarizing filter. Where the image is assigned to the second enhancement class, the processing includes applying a second enhancement chain, which may include detecting regions corresponding to skin in the image and selectively applying local contrast enhancement to those regions corresponding to skin.

    摘要: An image processing method takes as its input, a patch of an image where a candidate red-eye has been detected. The method includes classifying the patch with a classifier trained to assign the patch either to a default first class of patches associated with a standard correction of the candidate red-eye or to at least one second class of patches associated with a modified correction of the candidate red-eye. The modified correction may be designed to reduce a risk of degradation of the image for the second class of patches. The classification optionally includes determining a confidence level associated with the classification. If the image is classified into the at least one second class and the confidence level, where determined, exceeds a threshold, the modified correction is applied to the patch, otherwise, the standard correction is applied.

    摘要: A method for generating a personalized photo calendar includes providing a mapping between each of a plurality of discrete calendar time periods, such as months, and a set of seasonal themes, such as spring, summer, autumn, and winter. An image signature is computed for each of a set of user images. Scores are computed for the user images with respect to the seasonal themes, based on their computed signatures, with a categorizer trained on training images labeled with the seasonal themes. An image from the set is selected for each of the discrete calendar time periods, based on the mapping and on the computed scores. The selected images are inserted into a calendar template. The automated selection of images can reduce the time spent by a user in selecting images for a calendar, by automatically providing a set of seasonally appropriate images for the template.

The method includes receiving a set of images and automatically selecting a subset of the images as candidates for inclusion in a photobook. At least one design element of a design template for the photobook is automatically selected, based on information extracted from at least one of the images in the subset. Placeholders of the design template are automatically filled with images drawn from the subset to form at least one page of a multipage photobook. The exemplary system and method address some of the problems of photobook creation, thorough combining automatic methods for selecting, cropping, and placing photographs into a photo album template, which the user can then post-edit, if desired. This can greatly reduce the time required to create a photobook and thus encourage users to print photo albums.
