摘要: A flow enhanced method and system for flow non-linear magnetophoresis (F-NLM) is described. By tuning an external field frequency and the flow rate the migration velocities of different bead types may be caused to differ by several orders of magnitude over an extended range of frequencies to allow for separation of particles. Use of such efficiency in separation in bio-separation and similar assays is described.

摘要: The present invention is a plate heat exchanger that allows refrigerant to enter the heat exchanger simultaneously from two sides. Allowing the refrigerant or other fluid to enter from two sides splits the flow and improves fluid velocities by presenting an optimized area to the fluid flow. This effect may be realized for both gases and liquids, and for example with respect to a liquid refrigerant, where it enters the heat exchanger simultaneously by splitting. According to the present invention the split liquid flow from the condenser feeds dual electronically controlled expansion valves before entering the heat exchanger. Fully evaporated gas leaves the heat exchanger through a single outlet, or through a dual outlet.

摘要: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for holding a portable or hand-held electronic device that is operated by an end user. In some embodiments, the apparatus comprises a body or housing that holds the electronic device. In some embodiments, the body or housing of the apparatus can be adjusted to accommodate or hold larger or smaller electronic devices. Further, in some embodiments, the apparatus is also configured for attachment to another structure, such as a car or airplane seat. In some embodiments, the apparatus is further configured to allow it to be reversibly pulled away from the other structure for use without completely detaching it from the other structure and then returning it to its original position attached to the other structure after use.

摘要: A family of p53 tumor suppressor nucleic acid and protein isolated from several insect species is described. The p53 nucleic acid and protein can be used to genetically modify metazoan invertebrate organisms, such as insects and worms, or cultured cells, resulting in p53 expression or mis-expression. The genetically modified organisms or cells can be used in screening assays to identify candidate compounds that are potential pesticidal agents or therapeutics that interact with p53 protein. They can also be used in methods for studying p53 activity and identifying other genes that modulate the function of, or interact with, the p53 gene. Nucleic acid and protein sequences for Drosophila p33 and Rb tumor suppressors are also described.
