Abstract: A crop conditioner has a frame adapted to travel along the ground, an upstream pair of vertically spaced ribbed rollers to which is supplied a stream of crop to be conditioned, and a downstream pair of ribbed rollers downstream of the upstream pair. A drive counterrotates the upstream rollers at a predetermined speed and thereby takes in the crop stream, conditions it, and puts it out toward the downstream rollers. A drive also counterrotates the downstream rollers at a predetermined speed which is different from the predetermined speed of the upstream rollers and thereby takes in the crop stream from the upstream pair, conditions it, and outputs it, normally laying it back on the ground.

Abstract: A die for producing flat sections, in particular a flat-sheet die for extrusion of ceramic green films, has a slot-shaped die outlet which opens in an outlet orifice. The height of the slot-shaped die outlet narrows beginning in the immediate vicinity of the outlet orifice and continuing to the outlet orifice. The die outlet is preferably formed by a first lip and a second lip situated opposite the first, having a constant first distance in at least some areas outside the immediate vicinity of the outlet orifice, and having at the outlet orifice a second smaller distance in comparison with the first distance, the first distance between the lips decreasing linearly to the second distance in the area of the immediate vicinity of the outlet orifice.

Abstract: In a light emitting diode, a first semiconductor layer supplies electrons, and a second semiconductor layer supplies holes. An active layer is formed between the first and second semiconductor layers. The active layer receives electrons and holes, and emits light in response to coupling between the electrons and the holes. A first reflective layer is formed on a bottom portion of the first semiconductor layer, and a second reflective layer is formed on a top portion of the second semiconductor layer. The light emitted from the active layer exits toward a side of the active layer.

Abstract: The invention is based on the problem of providing an inspection device and an inspection method, which recognise the defective lenses, which are difficult to detect with conventional optical methods, with a high degree of reliability. According to the invention, the contact lenses are exposed to an ultrasonic field, which leads to destruction of defective lenses, while perfect lenses are as a rule not destroyed. In particular, the method is capable of detecting cracks which are often overlooked by optical methods, since this type of defect reacts especially sensitively to the soundwaves being received.
