摘要: A disposable cover for electromagnetic treatment applicators prevents undesired exposure to potentially harmful radiation. The cover is a pouch-like structure having a back surface (which faces opposite, or away from, the treatment area) constructed from shielding material, such as metallized polyethylene. At least a portion of the cover which faces the treatment area is constructed solely from non-shielding material. Adhesive strips, ZIP-LOCK®, or other interlocking edges, secure the applicator inside the cover and close off any leaks. The electromagnetic properties of the cover are integrated into the circuitry for the treatment applicator, such that the applicator is not functional in the absence of the cover. In use, an electromagnetic treatment applicator is inserted into the cover and positioned over the area to be treated, with the non-shielding, or “window”, portion of the cover overlying the treatment area. Once assembled, the applicator/cover combination forms a closely matched and tuned network for effecting a highly efficient RF output. When activated, the generated electromagnetic energy only exits the cover through the opening or “window”, thereby preventing exposure of the patient or caregiver to potentially harmful radiation.

摘要: A side safety barrier device to protect occupants of a vehicle includes a crash sensor to generate at least one actuator signal when a crash having predetermined properties is sensed. A safety barrier is normally stored in the headliner of the vehicle in a first or stored position and selectively deployable to a second or deployed position by the safety barrier deployment assembly when signaled by the crash sensor to separate or isolate the side of the vehicle on which the side safety device is disposed from the interior of the vehicle.

摘要: A hinge assembly for adjustably mounting a toilet covering member to the rear of a toilet is disclosed. In one form, a hinge block has a compartment with serrations to adjustably receive a bushing with complementary serrations. A mounting bolt is placed through an opening in the hinge block and the bushing for engagement with a nut to secure the hinge assembly to the toilet. In one embodiment, the hinge block supports opposing hinge brackets for the toilet covering member with the hinge pin trapped by the mounting of one of the brackets. In an especially preferred form, the hinge assembly is employed with a cover and a toilet having matching curved front portions.

摘要: The present invention resides in an improved inflator for inflating a vehicle occupant restraint (12) such as an air bag. The inflator has an igniter (40). The igniter (40) comprises a container (130) which contains an ignitable particulate output charge (152). The particulate output charge (152) is retained within the container and occupies only a portion of the container. The container (130) thus has a free volume (154) equal to about 25% to about 75% of the volume of the container. The output charge (152) has a burn time in the range of 5-100 milliseconds. The container has at least one orifice means (136) closed by a rupturable disk (138). The orifice means (136) has an orifice area which is sized to contain the output charge (152) within the container (130) until at least a substantial portion of the output charge ignites. This provides a low brisance ignition.

摘要: A ceramic armor system with built-in conductive circuit attached to a ceramic component. The conductive circuit can be accessed by a user at contacts provided in the system. The circuit is arranged so that damage such as cracks that occurs within the ceramic component can propagate into the conductive material forming the circuit and thereby cause a rupture in the conductive circuit. An electrical probe such as an ohmmeter is used to measure the conductive circuit resistance that is then checked against an expected value. The results are used to determine if the ceramic armor component is in operable condition.
