摘要： An exercise apparatus accommodates a user and a resilient and resistive pivot such as an exercise ball within its structure. The pivot may have various dimensions based on the size and needs of the user and the exercise program chosen to be performed. The shape and inner dimension of the apparatus is designed to exploit the inherent instability of pivoting exercises such as twists, rolls and lifts. Various configurations of horizontal and vertical apparatus members offer the user a wide range of gripping and leverage points. A variety of exercise positions and motions may be used with this device to increase muscle flexibility and strength.

摘要： Objects of interest are detected and identified using multiple cameras having varying resolution and imaging parameters. An object is first located using a low resolution camera. A second camera (or lens) is then directed at the object's location using a steerable mirror assembly to capture a high-resolution image at a location where the object is thought to be based on image acquired by the wide-angle camera. Various image processing algorithms may be applied to confirm the presence of the object in the telephoto image. If an object is detected and the image is of sufficiently high quality, detailed facial, alpha-numeric, or other pattern recognition techniques may be applied to the image.

In some example structures, the golf club includes a face plate formed from metal and club head body (e.g. a crown and sole) formed from fiber reinforced plastic. A weighted body is provided inside the rearmost portion of the golf club head and a low rigidity portion whose width becomes gradually narrower as it approaches the rearmost portion is provided in the crown extending from the vicinity of the face plate to the rearmost portion.

摘要： A mirror scanning system comprises a single mirror mounted to rotate on a first axis that is substantially in the plane of the mirror reflecting surface and on a second axis perpendicular to and intersecting the first axis. Both the mirror and the first axis rotate around the second axis. An optical system is directed at a portion of the reflecting surface of the mirror at or adjacent to the intersection of the two axes and has a focal axis substantially aligned with the second axis. By aligning the reflecting surface in a direction so as to maximize a signal emanating from a source and detected at a selected position on a detector forming part of the optical system and measuring the angular displacement of the mirror around each of the first and second axes with the reflecting surface so aligned, the direction of a detected source can be determined. Alternatively if the optic system includes the source in place of the detector the energy emitted from the source located in the optical system can be reflected in a selected direction that can be easily and rapidly changed.

In various embodiments, vehicle position and speed may be estimated based on geometric knowledge of certain vehicle features unlikely to vary among vehicles, e.g., boundary points along license plate characters and the knowledge that these points are coplanar on intact license plates. Embodiments of the invention facilitate determination of position and speed without requiring any manual calibration or measurement of the camera's position in space with respect to the road surface.

摘要： This invention concerns a support device for raising an animal from a collapsed position to an upright position. The support structure is a fluid inflatable bag which may be inflated by air or water. The bag has four apertures to receive the legs of collapsed animals thereby enabling the animal to be supported with its legs clear of the ground. In the preferred form the bag comprises three compartments which are separately inflatable. The compartments may be further provided with a plurality of additional compartments underneath or to each side. The bag may be made from a strong canvas outer skin with an interior lining of a suitable plastics material. There is no frame or other form of support member for the bag, it being entirely self-supporting and self-raising by virtue of the fluid pressure of air or water.
