Abstract:
An apparatus and method for automatedly detecting the presence of one or more chemical contaminants, such as 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, in/on a plurality of cork wine bottle stoppers in rapid succession using electronic nose chips. The apparatus moves the nose chips and the cork stoppers independently to align the cork stopper and a corresponding electronic nose chip with one another for testing. The automated apparatus and method provides a low-cost, reliable process for testing 100% of cork wine bottle stoppers in a fast and cost-effective manner.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for transferring data. A circuit transfers information between two buses using different signal voltage levels and multiplexes signals applied to the second bus over multiple devices coupled thereto. The data on a first data bus is transferred at a first voltage level and the data on a second data bus is transferred at a second voltage level. For example, the first data bus may transfer data at 3.3V and the second data bus may transfer data at 5V. A logic device (e.g., a CPLD) is connected between the first and the second data buses for transferring the data between the first and second voltage levels. The logic device is also configured for multiplexing the data with the second voltage level between first and second devices (e.g., one or more LEDs and/or NVSRAMs) connected to the second data bus.
Abstract:
A system and method for asynchronously distributing stage-based information in printed format, such as a newsletter, book, or printed magazine. Stages of a process are identified that are independent of a continuum of time. A customized magazine edition is prepared for each of the stages. Based upon registration information provided by a subscriber, a check is performed to presently qualify the subscriber for an edition by determining which stage presently corresponds to the subscriber, and then determining whether the subscriber's stage falls within each edition's applicable range of stages. A single subscriber may receive more or less concurrently multiple editions of a magazine from a single subscription. Additionally, in a single sending period, the publisher of the magazine may simultaneously send several different editions of the magazine, each being targeted to individuals in different stages of the process.
Abstract:
An apparatus (100) and method (400) for detecting the presence of one or more chemical contaminants in/on a plurality of items, e.g., cork stoppers (110), using nose chips (310). The apparatus utilizes detection sensor electronics (225) that are separate from the nose chips such that each nose chip can be either reused or discarded after use. The apparatus moves the nose chips and the cork stoppers independently to align the cork stopper and a corresponding nose chip with one another. The testing apparatus uses multiple sensor units (135) to simultaneously test multiple cork stoppers for chemical contaminants (e.g., TCA). The invention provides a low-cost, reliable process for testing 100% of cork stoppers in a fast and cost-effective manner that is scalable to the general consumer product market.
