Abstract:
A method and a system for identifying a copy of an image sequence which is presented on a screen. At least one identifier distinct from the image sequence can be projected through the screen such that the identifier is displayed using visible light along with the image sequence. The identifier can be presented at periodic intervals and can define a theater location, a date and/or a time. A color and/or an illumination of at least a portion of the image sequence presentation can be measured. Based on the measured illumination and/or color, a projection brightness and/or color can be determined for the identifier. Also, a location on the screen through which the identifier should be projected can be determined.
Abstract:
A direct dispensing, surgical suture package is disclosed. The package comprises a first rectangular panel 1 and a second rectangular panel 2. The second panel is foldably connected to a short side of the first rectangular panel. The package also comprises a first rectangular flap 3 which is foldably connected to a long side of the first rectangular panel. Further, the package comprises a second rectangular flap 4. The second flap is foldably connected to a long side of the second rectangular panel. The package further comprises means for accessing a surgical needle between the second rectangular panel and flap. The package is useful for dispensing a suture from it without having to open, tear or mutilate any of the panels or flaps.
Abstract:
There is described a focusing apparatus having a deformable membrane that at least partially defines a cavity and an optical fluid disposed in the cavity. An actuator assembly can be provided for imparting a force to the deformable membrane. In one embodiment, the actuator assembly can include a piezoelectric actuator.
Abstract:
A method and system for mastering and distributing enhanced color space content for different display devices (target color space) having display capabilities beyond that of CRT color space. The content creator(s) establishes base or reference color space and enhanced color space data for each target color space. The enhanced color space data is stored as metadata and transmitted over an enhanced color channel separately from the base/reference color space. Both the base/reference data and metadata are encoded before transmission and decoded on the consumer side either by a separate decoder or a display device having an integrated decoder. In other aspects of the invention, auxiliary data relating to the target color space, such as, for example, brightness, luminance, contrast and other display settings can be transmitted over the enhanced color channel and decoded to control the target color space settings (i.e., display settings). The color adjustment metadata could be included in the auxiliary data or maintained separate from the same depending on the desired implementation.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining the theoretical internal diameter of a tube of unknown internal diameter comprising an air regulation system comprising a pressure regulator and a volumetric flow meter for obtaining an actual volumetric flow rate through the tube of unknown internal diameter. Calculating a theoretical volumetric flow rate for a range of tubes of known internal diameters. Calculating the theoretical internal diameter of the tube of unknown internal diameter, wherein the actual volumetric flow rate obtained from the apparatus is interpolated with the respective theoretical volumetric flow rates of the tubes of known internal diameter to obtain the theoretical internal diameter of the tube of unknown internal diameter.

Abstract:
The protective push stick includes a transparent cover extending over the cutting tool of a machine tool to protect the operator's hand from the saw blade, to protect the operator's eye from particles flying upwards from the cutting tool and still provide some visibility of the cutting tool to the operator.
Abstract:
A random number generator and a gaming machine employing such random number generator are set forth in accordance with preferred embodiments of the present invention. The random number generator disclosed employs a white noise source to clock a counting arrangement whose maximum count exceeds the largest random number desired. A variable counter, clocked at a fixed rate, is loaded with random numbers obtained from the counting arrangement and each time the variable counter is counted down to a threshold state a new random number is read from the counting arrangement. Random numbers obtained in this mamner are then checked to ascertain their propriety and those which are accepted are then subjected to pseudo-random number regenerative techniques to further randomize the same. The resulting random numbers are then employed within a digitally controlled and operated gaming machine to select winning condition, the probabilities to be displayed during periods when wagers are accepted and otherwise to vary initial conditions associated with the gaming event prior to the actual occurrence thereof. The gaming event is then visually displayed in accordance with the winning conditions selected and any successful wagers are paid.
Abstract:
A fluid filter is disclosed herein, the fluid filter having a cylindrical body with a plurality of flutes disposed around its outer circumference, a cap coupled for rotation with the body having a plurality of projections disposed to engage the plurality of flutes, wherein the plurality of projections rotate past the plurality of flutes when a torque exceeding a threshold is applied to the cap.
