The compressing aid consists of particles of a Fischer-Tropsch synthetic saturated hydrocarbon wax having an average molecular formula of C.sub.48 H.sub.98, an average molecular mass of about 700, a minimum congealing point of about 204.degree. F. and an average particle size of about 10 microns. For greater ease and dispersion during blending of the ingredients, the wax particles may be coated with 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of a lubricant such as dimethyl polysiloxane, isopropyl myristate, lauryl lactate or ethylhexyl palmitate. As an alternative to using these lubricants, coating the surface of the wax with about 0.10-0.20% of a protein zein of corn gluten lubricates the fine wax and aids in its dispersion in the particle mixture. In many applications the vegetable protein lubricant is preferably because less pressure is needed to compress the mixture than with the lubricants noted above.

In another example, the polyester is made from 50.932% 2,2,4 trimethyl-1, 3-pentanediol, 27.579% isophthalic acid-85, 0.186% dibutyl tin oxide catalyst and 21.303 trimellitic anhydride, having an acid value of 80 and a viscosity of 150 centipoise.

Improved quaternary ammonium compositions are provided wherein quaternized ammonium derivatives of lanolin acids are combined with specific branched-chain diols. These compositions exhibit improved water solubility and have excellent compatibility with anionic emulsifiers and surfactants which make them extremely useful for the preparation of clear cosmetic formulations.
