    摘要: A decorative seat welt for securement to the upholstry fabric covering automobile-type seats, formed of a long, narrow strip of thick, double creped paper upon which is centered a thicker strip of resilient foam plastic material, covered by a cloth-like strip. The side edges of the foam strip are spaced a short distance inwardly from the side edges of the paper strip, and the side edges of the cloth-like strip are bent around the side edges of the paper strip to overlap the edge portions of the rear face thereof. A line of stitches arranged closely adjacent to each of the side edges of the plastic strip secures the edges of the cloth-like and paper strips together. The assembled welt is then stitched to the upholstry cloth covering the seat, for decorative purposes.

    摘要: An upholstery edging formed of a thin, narrow relatively stiff, linearly oriented polypropylene fiber, randomly oriented, cloth strip, which is stretch resistant in all of its planar directions, stitched to and extending the length of an edge of an upholstery cover fabric which is to be fastened to another element, with the strip being double bent along the line of stitches to form a double ply, and with the free edge of the outer ply being bent over into a continuous tubular portion for receiving an elongated stiffening rod therein.

    摘要: A welt seaming lace assembly, for forming welted seams for upholstered furniture, formed of a thin, flexible, thermoplastic core covered with an open braided mesh formed of thread, and a heat reactable adhesive coating the thread and core, and a thin, thermoplastic, outer covering, including an integral sewing flange, hot extruded around the adhesive coated mesh covered core. The adhesive coating is applied hot to momentarily soften the core for both adhesively bonding to and partially embedding the thread in the surface of the core. Later, after cooling, the extrusion of the outer covering reactivates the adhesive for adhesively bonding the core and threads to and partially embedding the threads in the outer covering.

The strip is formed of fine strands of linearly oriented polypropylene felted into a randomly oriented non-woven, smooth sheet for roughly equal stretch resistance and equal tension absorption in all of its planar directions.
