A multi-channel analog to digital conversion circuit and methods thereon are provided. The multi-channel analog to digital conversion cirucit comprises a plurality of linearized channels wherein each channel comprises a multi-stage pipelined charge-to-digital converter and an integrating capacitor within each stage of the multi-stage converter wherein analog residue is processed by subsequent analog to digital converter stages. Each stage of respective linearized channels is configured for calculating gain and offset for each stage in the channel and such gain and offset is used in subsequent integration periods.

The first portion includes a data acquisition system (DAS) having a charge-to-digital converter and a digital signal processor (DSP) configured to receive and compress digital data from the charge-to-digital processor. The second portion includes a computer configured to receive data from the DAS. The DAS and computer are communicatively coupled via a slip ring having a finite transmission bandwidth. The computer is configured to reconstruct and display an image using compressed data. The method includes using the DAS to compress scan data to a predetermined number of mantissa bits and a predetermined number of exponent bits, transmitting the compressed data from the first portion to the second portion across the slip ring, and using the transmitted compressed data to reconstruct and display an image of an object.

One method includes acquiring a multichannel signal, obtaining a noise correlation between a plurality of channels of the multichannel signal, and obtaining a signal characteristic in each of the plurality of channels. The subject matter disclosed herein relates to X-ray imaging systems, and more specifically, to multi-energy computed tomography (CT) X-ray imaging systems. In an embodiment, a multi-energy computed tomography (CT) imaging system includes an X-ray source that emits X-rays upon the application of a low stable bias, a high stable bias, and transitional biases between the low stable bias and the high stable bias. The imaging system also includes an X-ray detector configured to produce an electrical signal corresponding to the intensity of the X-rays emitted by the X-ray source that reach the X-ray detector. The imaging system also includes data processing circuitry configured to acquire a first set of data corresponding to the electrical signal produced by the X-ray detector only when the low stable bias or the high stable bias is applied to the X-ray source. The imaging system also includes a processor configured to process the first set of acquired data and construct one or more multi-energy CT images.
