    摘要: The processing window for thermosetting resins that contain particulate hardeners is prolonged using the combined steps of heat-treating the resin to form a low-viscosity resin mixture in which the particles are dissolved and then moulding the low-viscosity resin mixture at temperatures below the dissolution temperature of the particles to infuse a fibrous preform. The infused resin preform is heated to the curing temperature of the resin to provide final curing of the resin.

The resin system comprises an epoxy component and at least one curing agent, and at least 35 wt. % of the epoxy component is one or more naphthalene based epoxy resin. There is also provided a cured composite material, and a method of making the cured composite material in a liquid moulding process which comprises placing fibre reinforcement and the resin system in a mould and curing. The resin system and the methods of making a cured composite material are particularly applicable to liquid moulding processed such as resin trans moulding (RTM), vacuum assisted resin transfer moulding (VARTM), Seeman composite resin infusion moulding (SCRIMP), resin infusion under flexible tooling (RIFT), and liquid resin infusion (LRI).

    摘要: A suture placement device is inserted into an endoscopic trocar port site. A pivot bar with a pair of receptor ports is moved from a folded to an extended position below the fascia. The trocar port is removed over the device as the pivot bar is pulled upward against the fascia. A pair of stylet guides are deployed from two sides of the device housing, and intercept the receptor ports, thereby creating a suture path through the first guide, through a channel in the pivot bar between the receptor ports, and through the second guide. A stylet is directed through the suture path to pull a suture through the path. The guides are refracted, the pivot bar is folded, the device is removed, and the suture is tied. A stylet guide may have a partially deployed position to accurately inject an anesthetic at a desired intra-muscular layer.

    摘要: An emergency buoyancy system mounted to a vessel includes a depth sensor to sense a predetermined maximum depth, and an actuator actuated by the depth sensor. The actuator, upon actuation, opens a membrane between tanks, each holding one of a pair of gas producing chemicals. The gas producing chemicals, preferably bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, mix together to produce carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide fills a plurality of balloons, thereby providing buoyancy to the vessel to which the balloons are attached.
