Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: a sheet conveyance section that conveys a sheet; an image forming section that forms an image on the sheet conveyed by the sheet conveyance section according to an image signal; a sheet heating section that heats the sheet on which the image is formed by the image forming section; and a curl straightening section that straightens curl of the sheet after the sheet is heated by the sheet heating section. The sheet heating section curls the sheet in a different direction according to a sheet thickness. The curl straightening section includes: a first curl straightening section that straightens the curl of the sheet curled in a first direction for curling thick sheet; and a second curl straightening section disposed on a downstream side in a sheet conveyance direction to straighten the curl of the sheet curled in a second direction opposite to the first direction.
Abstract:
An improved image forming apparatus having an endless belt is provided. The apparatus uses an endless belt as a toner image carrier for holding a toner image thereon and transporting the toner image. In one embodiment, rib members are arranged on opposing ends of the endless belt to assist in inhibiting the endless belt from walking relative to a drive roll. A rib guide member is interposed between the rib member and the drive roll, and is rotatable independent of the drive roll. In another embodiment, the toner image is transferred from a photosensitive member to the endless transfer belt and then to a recording medium. Indicia is arranged on an outer perimeter surface of the endless transfer belt indicative of a position of the endless transfer belt, with a sensor used to detect the indicia.
Abstract:
An fixing apparatus of the present invention includes: a developer image forming section that is provided to an apparatus main body and forms a developer image on a recording medium; a fixing section that is provided to the apparatus main body and fixes the developer image that has been formed on the recording medium by the developer image forming section; an identification section that is provided to the fixing section and allows a type of recording medium for being fixed by the fixing section to be identified; and a banning section that is provided to the apparatus main body, identifies the type of recording medium for being fixed by the fixing section using the identification section and bans image forming on a recording medium that has a different type from the type of recording medium for being fixed by the fixing section.
Abstract:
Four cooling fans 1 to 4 are provided under a pressure roller along its axial direction in a symmetric manner. The outside cooling fans 1 and 4 are disposed so as to face the non-paper-passing portions of the pressure roller when an A1 size transfer sheet is running with-its longer sides being parallel with the transport direction. The middle cooling fans 2 and 3 are disposed so as to face the non-paper-passing portions of the pressure roller when an A2 size transfer sheet is running with its longer sides being parallel with the transport direction. If the ambient temperature is high, all the cooling fans 1 to 4. are driven. If the ambient temperature is low, only the cooling fans 1 and 4 are driven when an A1-size sheet comes.
Abstract:
There is provided a fixing device including: a heating member that, while rotating, heats and fixes a developer image onto a recording medium; a pressing member that nips and presses the recording medium between itself and the heating member; an external heating member configured to make contact with an outer surface of the heating member and to move away from the outer surface of the heating member, the external heating member making contact with the outer surface of the heating member and heating the heating member; and a moving section that computes a contact position of a leading edge of the recording medium and the outer surface of the heating member, and moves the external heating member such that the external heating member contacts the outer surface of the heating member based on the computed position.
Abstract:
A heating device includes a first rotating member and a second rotating member revolving in contact with the first rotating member. The second rotating member heats a passing recording medium having a toner image and held between the first and second rotating members, thereby fixing the toner image on the recording medium. The heating device further includes a pair of supporting plates supporting the first and second rotating members by being arranged on both sides across the first and second rotating members in a width direction crossing the passing direction of the recording medium. The supporting plates each have a tabular section with a first surface facing the first and second rotating members. The heating device further includes a resistance element arranged on a second surface side opposite to the first surface of the tabular section, and representing the type of a fixing device by using resistance.
Abstract:
An applying device includes an applying member that applies an applying material to an outer peripheral surface of a fixing member that rotates, while a peripheral velocity difference is caused to exist between a peripheral velocity of the fixing member and a peripheral velocity of the applying member. The applying material contains a fluorocarbon resin material.
