摘要: Disclosed is a biased paper dispensing device for dispensing paper. The dispensing device has a housing with an elongated body for containing paper. The housing has a lift system which may include a tray for holding the paper, a pulley system having pulleys, and elastic tubing. The tray holds the paper horizontally in the housing, and is moved vertically within the housing to dispense the paper. The lift system is used to lift or lower the paper and to bias the paper within the housing toward the lid or opening. A paper guide device for guiding paper into alignment with the opening may be provided. The opening may include at least one lateral opening portion permitting paper exposed in the opening to be withdrawn laterally therefrom. Flanges for holding the paper within the opening, and for allowing easy insertion of paper into the housing, are also provided.

摘要: Providing a user with assurance that a computer is secure based on a vulnerability assessment completed by a browser-compatible scanner operating on the computer. If the scanner finds a vulnerability, the scanner can inform the user that the machine is or may be compromised, or repair the vulnerability. For example, the scanner may be able to repair the vulnerability of the workstation. In the alternative, the scanner can provide the scan results to a network server. If the vulnerability assessment shows that the workstation is compromised, or if the possibility of remote compromise is high, the network server can decline to provide network services to the workstation.

摘要: A cargo carrier adapted to be removably mounted to a roof of a vehicle includes a body portion and an interior space defined by the body portion. The cargo carrier further includes a lid portion that provides access to the interior space. The lid portion is releasably attachable to the body portion by relative linear motion between the lid portion and the body portion. The cargo carrier further includes at least one mechanical fastening assembly slidingly engageable with a complementary fastening assembly, wherein the mechanical fastening assembly prevents relative motion between the lid portion and the body portion. Another embodiment of the cargo carrier includes a lid cover constructed to coact with a space defined by the lid portion and the body portion. The lid cover creates mechanical interference to prevent relative linear motion between the lid portion and the body portion.

摘要: A measuring device is provided that may be selectively configured between an extended condition and a collapsed condition. The device includes a first member, second member, flexible housing, and securing means. Each member has a proximal end, distal end, and convex surface. The convex surfaces are flexible such that the members may bend about a bending axis of the device and resilient such that the convex surfaces are biased toward their stable convex shape and the device is biased toward the extended condition. The first and the second members are disposed within the flexible housing to form a covered pair having a proximal end and a distal end. The apex of the convex surface of the first member is opposite the apex of the convex surface of the second member when the members are disposed within the flexible housing. The securing means secures the measuring device in the collapsed condition.

摘要: A transmitter is coupled to a sign advertising a product such as a house or car for sale. The transmitter wirelessly broadcasts visually displayable information relating to the advertised product to one or more portable, hand-held machines. A portable machine receiving the wirelessly broadcasted information may then store and display information about the advertised product such as price, textual description of product features, product photos or pictures, and salesperson's name and contact information with minimal time and effort and maximal convenience.

摘要: An automated transaction integrity monitoring system (100) operative to monitor electronic transactions of an enterprise and detect exceptions indicating noncompliance with enterprise policies. An extractor (140) obtains data from heterogeneous data sources such as enterprise databases. A staging database (155) caches data from the data sources. A mapper (150) maps enterprise data into an enterprise ontology used to express enterprise policies. A knowledge base (165) stores computer-executable policy statements, extractor data, and mapper data. A monitoring database (175) stores data mapped in the enterprise ontology. A collaborative reasoning engine (CORE) (160) executes policy statements against the monitoring database and determines exceptions. An exceptions database (185) stores exceptions from CORE. A case management system (190) provides for analysis and tracking of exceptions.
