Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for preparing nuclear transfer units (nt-units, which can be also referred to as somatic embryos), which comprises transplanting mammalian cells or cell nuclei into enucleate oocytes of a species different from the nuclear donor, preferably enucleated rabbit oocytes, so as to form nuclear transfer units, and developing such nuclear transfer units to various pre-implantation stages under suitable conditions; as well as the uses of the nt-units obtained by this method.
