    摘要: The invention is directed to a tensioner assembly for providing tensile force from a floating vessel at the surface of the ocean to the blowout preventer stack, or production tree, which is connected to the wellhead at the sea floor. The tensioner assembly compensates for vessel motion induced by wave action and heave and maintains a variable tension to the riser string alleviating the potential for compression and thus buckling or failure of the riser string. The tensioner assembly of the present invention includes a cylinder, a stop tube disposed with the cylinder, and a ram slidably engaged within the stop tube. The tensioner assembly also includes at least one gas, or air, transfer tube to create a pressurized air over hydraulic fluid arrangement to provide tensile force to the tensioner assembly.

    摘要: A system for bi-directional data content transfer between a plurality of mobile platforms, such as aircraft or cruise ships, and a ground-based control segment. The system includes the ground-based control segment, a space segment and a mobile system disposed on each mobile platform. The ground-based control segment includes an antenna which is used to transmit encoded RF signals representative of data content to the space segment. The space segment includes a plurality of satellite transponders, with one of the transponders being designated by the ground-based control segment to transpond the encoded RF signals to the mobile system. The mobile system includes steerable receive and transmit antennas. The receive antenna receives the encoded RF signals from the satellite transponder, which are thereafter decoded, demodulated, D/A converted by a communications subsystem and transmitted to a server. The server filters off that data content not requested by any occupants on the mobile system. A local area network (LAN) receives the remaining data content and provides same to individual users on the mobile platform in accordance with previously submitted programming requests or data input by the users at access stations associated independently with each user. The transmit antenna is used to transmit data content from laptop computers, PDAs or other user electronic devices coupled to the access stations back to the designated satellite transponder. The satellite transponder then transponds the data back to the antenna of the ground-based control segment.

    摘要: A power distribution system. In one embodiment the system includes at least one rectifier cabinet, at least one distribution cabinet, and a pair of conductors. Each cabinet has a side wall which is adjacent to the side wall of the other cabinet. Further, the rectifier cabinet includes slots for rectifiers and the distribution cabinet has slots for distribution modules. The conductors are coupled to the cabinets. One of the conductors may terminate a first wire connected to a rectifier slot and may terminate a second wire connected to a distribution module slot. The other conductor may complete a DC return path to the rectifier cabinet. In one embodiment AC and DC cables may be routed through the top or the bottom of the cabinets. In another embodiment the conductors are bus bars positioned near the back of the cabinets. Rectifier and distribution cabinets and associated methods are also provided.

    摘要: A pressure relief valve has a moveable piston disposed in a body between inlet and outlet ports in the body. A volumetrically variable enclosed chamber is formed within the body with a portion of the chamber being defined by an upper surface of the piston. At least one aperture extends through the head of the piston providing a fluid passageway between an inlet port of the valve and the enclosed chamber. Fluid captured within the enclosed chamber permits initial rapid movement of the piston head to an open, or relieved, position in the event of a sharp increase in system pressure and provides a hydraulic cushion whereby impact shock of the head against internal valve components is attenuated.
