摘要： A hydraulic valve lifter is disclosed which does not require a source of pressurized lubricating fluid, and is particularly suitable for engines using a splash lubrication system. The engine crankcase oil is transferred from the cam surface through a check valve into the pressure chamber of the lifter. The check valve is operated by the pressure differential between the chamber pressure and the pressure at the cam surface. The check valve may also be operated by the cam itself.

摘要： An electrically responsive oil level sensor is mounted within a vehicle oil sump. An enclosure encloses the ends of two spaced electrodes. The high voltage electrode has a pointed end and the other low voltage electrode has a blunt end opposed to the pointed end. The low voltage electrode is connected to ground in series with an indicator. The enclosure has three vertically spaced openings. An entrance opening is aligned with the electrode gap for in flow of oil. A second is located below the entrance opening and establishes a restricted oil outflow. The third opening is above the entrance opening for air and fume escapement. A baffle is interposed between the entrance opening and the electrode gap. The baffle prevents the motion of the oil in the sump from moving directly through the entrance opening and into the electrode gap. The enclosure has an integral tower for the high voltage electrode and the tower has annular radial projections to increase the surface creepage path.

摘要： Complementary dished members cooperate to define an elongated shell that is divided into front and rear compartments by a partition wall. A U-shaped stamping divides the rear compartment into three aligned and communicated chambers and reinforces the rear shell wall. Gas enters an end one of the chambers through a perforated inlet tube that extends through the rear shell wall, thence flows successively through the other two chambers and into the front compartment. The inlet tube, the U-shaped stamping and the partition wall are so apertured that in the course of such flow the gas is alternately dispersed and recombined. The front compartment is longitudinally divided into two elongated passages through which gas flows lengthwise, in succession, in passing to an outlet in the front shell wall.

摘要： A governor for an internal combustion engine having an intake passageway and an engine throttle valve movable between an open position and a closed position, a throttle arm connected to the engine throttle valve to control movement of the engine throttle valve. A pressure assist adjusts the position of the throttle arm when a load is applied to the engine. The pressure assist includes a pressure responsive actuator having a pressure chamber in fluid flow communication with the intake passageway. The pressure responsive actuator is movable in a first direction in response to a pressure or a vacuum in the intake passageway. The throttle arm is movable in response to movement of the pressure responsive actuator. A conduit connects the pressure chamber and the intake passageway in fluid flow communication. A one-way valve is disposed in the conduit between the pressure chamber and the intake passageway.

摘要： A back-up safety system stops the engine of a machine such as a power mower upon failure of a main safety system whereby release of a dead man control normally declutches a work performing member from the engine and brakes it to a stop while the engine continues to run. The back-up safety system comprises a switch that is closed upon release of the dead man control, in series with an SCR in a magneto grounding circuit. The SCR is gated on by a sensor comprising a biasing coil connected with the SCR, a ferromagnetic rotor constrained to rotate with the work performing member and having circumferentially spaced pole projections, a permanent magnet, and a core with which the coil is coupled and which cooperates with the rotor and magnet to define a magnetic circuit wherein flux density varies as rotor projections pass a pole face on the core.
