The damper valve moves with the piston when the trigger structure of the tool is actuated to supply pressurized fluid to the piston, the damper valve being positioned relative to the piston and the flow path of the fluid to meter flow both to the piston during swaging and from the piston after swaging has been completed. The trigger is provided with a camming feature to create a component of a trigger movement to actuate a flow control valve in a simplified manner and a self-restoring resilient arm portion to return the trigger structure to its initial position.

An offset pin puller apparatus usable with a fluid-operated actuator tool for exerting an axial pulling force on a grooved fastener pin projecting through a workpiece. Jaws mounted within the apparatus are held against axial motion while an associated collet moves axially to cam the jaws into clamped engagement with the fastener pin. The jaws are released from the fastener pin by abutment of a jaw release assembly with an inner wall of the apparatus. Such abutment effects an axial and radial separation of the jaws from the collet during a return stroke of the actuation tool.

An installation tool for pin and collar fastener assemblies includes an ejector rod slidably mounted in an axial blind bore in the actuator portion of the tool. Within the blind end of the axial bore is an elongated resilient bumper adapted to engage the ejector rod to absorb momentum and energy associated with high speed movement of a severed pintail. The resilient bumper minimizes shock loading of the ejector rod and thereby prolongs the ejector rod service life.

An air channel connected to a supply of pressurized air is connected to the pintail bore. An air restriction mechanism blocks the flow of air out the nose of the tool and a pintail retaining device prevents detached pintails from exiting out the nose of the tool. Thus, pressurized air flowing through the air channel carries detached pintails out the pintail bore to a pintail collection chamber.

The device uses a mouthpiece into which exhaled air is blown, and a length of insulated tubing to direct the warm air to a vest-like radiating chamber garment. The moisture in the expelled air condenses on the inner surfaces of the chamber and is retained in special condensing pockets formed at the ends of internal partitions which provide a sinuous path for air flow through the chamber. Cooled dry air is finally exhausted at the lowermost point of the radiating chamber.
