Abstract:
An improved aircraft wheel configuration obviates the hazard of wheel failure during take-off and landing situations when tire deflation occurs and the wheel accepts full loading on its flanges. The wheel is configured to provide a differential flange height between the inboard and outboard flanges such that the total load applied to the wheel is distributed equally between the flanges. Alternatively, and/or in addition the flanges are restructured to provide an increased section modulus and the inboard flange is designed to provide a wider contact surface.
Abstract:
A system and method for customizing articles on a computer-based display provides a supplier database and remote client computer. Data is transferred between the supplier and the client computer including predetermined images of client articles and accompanying images of custom graphics. The database stores information on a variety of clients. Each client is associated with one or more profile, and each profile includes a series of images associated therewith. The client logs in under a given profile user name and password, and selects desired article images, and then calls up associated graphic images to manipulate onto the article images, creating a desired appearance. This appearance can be resubmitted to the supplier for production of an actual physical sample of the article.
Abstract:
A resistor comprising a substantially continuous resistor element being formed into a plurality of element panels with each panel having at least two holes provided therein. Adjacent element panels are connected in series by a bend in the resistor element. At least two support tubes comprising an insulating material are provided to support the resistor element. A plurality of conductive washers are provided adjacent each hole on both sides of each element panel to provide a conductive heat sink near each support tube hole in the element panels. Insulating washers are spaced between adjacent conductive washers. Two end walls are provided adjacent opposing sides of the resistor element to receive the support tubes.
Abstract:
A closed torus tire may be inflated by means of a circumferential conduit located at the interface of the tire and a rim. The closed inflation chamber of the closed torus tire communicates with the circumferential conduit via an air inlet passageway through the annular base region of the tire's carcass. An inflation valve passageway through the rim also communicates with the circumferential conduit to provide an air conduit means for inflating the closed torus tire.
Abstract:
Resistors for use in electrical circuits are formed of an alloy comprising from about 50 to about 95 mol percent aluminum, from about 5 to about 50 mol percent titanium and up to about 15 mol percent of at least one additional metal or a combination of two or more additional metals.
Abstract:
An annular carbon brake disk having cast metal keyslot reinforcement members which are shaped to intimately conform to the contour of the keyslots and to an adjacent surface area of the disk on each side of the keyslots. The reinforcement members are preferably investment castings of heat resistant stainless steel or other suitable metal and the walls of the reinforcement members are substantially thicker at the portion contacting the keyslot than at the other portions of the members. The keyslot reinforcement members may be used with either continuous or segmented disks.
