摘要: A hopper loader is provided for supplying particulate material to a processing machine. The hopper loader includes a receiver with latching members configured for coupling to a hopper assembly. The hopper assembly includes a hopper which preferably has translucent side walls to permit visual inspection of the contents of the chamber within the hopper, and a filter element positioned atop the receiver which is configured so that particulate material trapped by the filter element will periodically fall back into the chamber for processing without operator intervention.

摘要: A method of polishing a surface of a glass, ceramic, or glass-ceramic substrate to minimize the waviness, waviness variation, and average surface roughness of the surface, whereby the substrate is usable for a magnetic or magneto-optical (MO) data/information storage retrieval medium, comprising sequential steps of: (a) performing a primary polishing of the substrate surface in a first polishing apparatus, utilizing a first polishing slurry containing particles of a first abrasive; (b) transferring the substrate to a second polishing apparatus; and (c) performing a final polishing of the substrate surface in the second polishing apparatus, utilizing a second polishing slurry containing particles of a second abrasive, the particles of the second abrasive being smaller than the particles of the first abrasive.

摘要: A method of forming a batch of uniformly shaped glass sheet objects is disclosed. A stack of glass sheets is placed in a frame and submerged in a coolant. A hole is drilled through the stack. The cores of the hole and any debris from the drilling process are swept away in the coolant and pumped through a filter. A pin is inserted into the hole and attached to the base. A head on the pin, or a washer, fixes the stack of glass to the base at the hole. An outer profile is then cut in the glass stack around the hole while the formed objects are held to a base of the frame by the pin. Again, any debris is swept away in the coolant. The uniformly shaped objects are removed from the frame and separated. The glass sheet objects are preferably usable as a substrate for a magnetic or magneto-optical (MO) data/information storage retrieval medium.

摘要: A method of polishing to reduce surface roughness of at least one surface of a glass ceramic substrate that includes an amorphous glass portion and a crystalline portion. The method comprises at least one step of polishing the surface using a polishing pad and an abrasive polishing slurry. The polishing slurry comprises a first concentration of Ceria particulates and a second concentration of Silica particulates. The amorphous glass portion and the crystalline portion of the at least one surface are polished substantially equally.
