A machine tool for using this method, where there is included a drive for driving a tool held in the machine tool, is further disclosed. In the method, a parameter for the machine tool and/or the feed device that is optimal for working on an existing workpiece is adjusted on the basis of at least one measured parameter of the machine tool as well as at least one measured parameter of the feed device.

The inner stem sections are connected together to form inner stem (11′) of the drilling stem, and the outer stem sections are connected together to form outer stem (12′) of the drilling stem. The inner stem is connected with an output shaft of a power machine, and the outer stem is fixedly connected with the shell of the power machine. The length of the drilling stem of the assembled drilling tool can be arbitrarily adjusted, and the drilling bit can be rotated with high speed without friction generated between the drilling stem and the hole wall, thereby improving the speed and the efficiency of hole drilling.

A drilling apparatus designed used to drill multiple holes in the bottom surface of an overhead surface. The drilling apparatus includes a lower frame member and an upper frame member longitudinally aligned thereover. The lower frame member includes two vertical uprights perpendicularly aligned and attached to a lower base mounted on caster wheels. A cable attached to a winch selectively lowers and raises the upper frame member over the lower frame member. Attached to the upper end of the upper frame member is a perpendicularly aligned horizontal support member. Mounted on the support member are two or more drill brackets that hold inverted drill motors each with a drill bit at a fixed location and at a fixed angle. At least one drill bracket includes a horizontal alignment flange surface that is used as an alignment surface for a laser placed on the support surface and aimed upward to the precise hole location on the overhead surface.
