    摘要: Polygonal turning insert has a cutting edge including three part edges, a nose edge and two main edges, and chip-guiding flank surfaces for each part edge, a primary flank surface, and secondary flank surfaces. The primary flank surface is convexly arched and delimited by an arched lower boundary line, which has an apex point facing the nose edge and is situated along a bisector between the main edges, and includes two mirror-symmetrical arc part lines extending from the apex point to a pair of opposite end points situated along a reference line intersecting the bisector at a midpoint between the end points. The distance between the midpoint and the individual end points is greater than that between the midpoint and the apex point. An angle of inclination of the primary flank surface decreases from a greatest value in a bisector section to a smallest value in a reference line section.

The chip removing surface is inclined in a inwards/downwards direction in order to permit sinking of a chip being formed, and transforms into a deflection surface arranged to initiate deflection of the chip from the cutting insert. The angle of inclination of the chip removing surface does not exceed 18°. The level difference in elevation between the primary chamfer and the chip deflection surface amounts to maximally 0.20 mm.
