    摘要: This disclosure describes techniques for operating a corded electronic device in which a battery and a power control unit manage power draw from an external power source electrically coupled to the corded electronic device using a physical cord, such as a universal serial bus (USB) cable. The power control unit automatically supplements an electrical current continuously drawn by the corded electronic device from the external power source with an electrical current from the battery, when needed. Moreover, the power control unit operates to limit the current drawn from the external power source and the physical cord so as to ensure the current does not exceed any limitations or requirements associated with the external power source or the physical cord.

The indicia reading terminal, in response to a screen reading signal, is operative to activate a screen reading cycle. In the screen reading cycle, an imaging subsystem is activated at least once at the same time that an illumination subsystem is activated for one of a plurality of active illumination periods, for a first illuminated exposure period. The imaging subsystem is activated at least once while the illumination subsystem is not activated, for a first unilluminated exposure period, which is longer than the first illuminated exposure period. An aimer subsystem is activated for a plurality of active aimer periods when neither the imaging subsystem or the illumination subsystem is activated, wherein intervals of time between the active aimer periods are equal, within nominal tolerances.

An indicia reading apparatus can be controlled so that a light source bank of an illumination pattern assembly for projecting an illumination pattern is energized during an illumination period that overlaps a frame exposure period.     摘要: An indicia reading terminal is disclosed that includes an illumination subsystem operative for projecting of an illumination pattern, an imaging subsystem, a housing, a memory, and a processor, in a variety of embodiments. The memory may be capable of storing a frame of image data from an image sensor array of the imaging subsystem. The indicia reading terminal may be operative to activate a screen reading mode in which the terminal, in response to activation of a trigger signal, activates an illuminated exposure and an unilluminated exposure. During the illuminated exposure, the illumination subsystem projects the illumination pattern while the imaging subsystem exposes an illuminated frame of image data for a first duration of time. During the second exposure period, the illumination subsystem refrains from projecting the illumination pattern while the imaging subsystem exposes an unilluminated frame of image data for a second duration of time, and the illumination subsystem projects the illumination pattern after the imaging subsystem exposes the unilluminated frame of image data and prior to the imaging system making a subsequent exposure. The processor is operative to attempt to decode a decodable indicia represented in at least one of the illuminated frame of image data or the unilluminated frame of image data.
