摘要： Provided is a storage controller that will not impair the operation of a storage control system even when a new storage area is added to a pool corresponding to an AOU volume. This storage controller includes a logical volume accessible by a host system; a pool associated with the logical volume and including one or more physical storage areas configuring a storage area of the logical volume; and a memory for storing attribute information showing an attribute of a physical storage area included in the pool; wherein the controller is configured to add a new physical storage area to the pool based on the attribute information.

摘要： A data processing system in which resources of a remote copy are prevented from being wasted uselessly during a data-retention period is provided. The data processing system includes: an application server 2000, a primary storage system 4000 which stores data used by the application server in a first storage volume, a secondary storage volume 5000 which stores the copy of data stored in the primary storage system in a second storage volume, and a management server 1000 which controls the primary storage system and secondary storage system; and the primary storage system and secondary storage system are configured to include an access control table in which an access inhibited or access permitted state with respect to the first storage volume and second storage volume is stored, and a remote copy pair table in which a corresponding relation between the first storage volume and the second storage volume is stored.

摘要： The present invention proposes a highly reliable storage system and data storage method that can prevent a data copying failure from occurring. If the allocation of a dynamically variable storage area to a primary/secondary logical volume from within that provided by a primary/secondary pool volume results in a storage area shortage in a primary pool volume, the storage system allocates an additional storage area to that primary pool volume from within the storage area provided by a physical volume, and together with this allocation, also allocates an additional storage area to all secondary pool volumes related to that primary pool volume.
