摘要: An antenna system including a retro-directive adaptive phased array antenna, comprised of a group of antenna modules. There is a phasing cell in each antenna module that adds a certain amount of phase shift to the wireless transmit and receive signals in order to generate a pair of retro-directive radiation beams, such that the wireless transmit and receive beams are aligned to each other. Each phasing cell synthesizes the phase shift values for the transmit and receive beams using only one phase shifter. Therefore, as a beam forming algorithm changes the receive beam forming coefficients (i.e. the phase shifters values) to steer the receiving beam, the transmit beam will be automatically aligned to that of receive beam for arbitrary transmit and receive frequencies.

摘要: Apparatus for carrying a plurality of photoconductive antennas is configured to facilitate the independent application of a voltage bias to each of the photoconductive antennas. The apparatus includes a carrier device, which comprises a support member configured for supporting a substrate containing a plurality of photoconductive integrated circuits. The support member has a side edge and a central portion having a window therein shaped for exposing the plurality of photoconductive integrated circuits to an incident optical beam. At least three contact plates are positioned on the central portion of the support member adjacent the window, and are configured to be electrically connected to an electrode of one of the photoconductive integrated circuits and to an electrode of another one of the photoconductive integrated circuits. At least two pairs of input terminals are located on the support member adjacent the side edge thereof, and are spaced from each other. The device also includes conductors for electrically connecting the contact plates to the pairs of input terminals, which comprise a pair of conductors extending from each of the contact plates. The pair of conductors comprises a first conductor connected to a terminal of one of the pairs of input terminals, and a second conductor connected to a terminal of another of the pairs of input terminals.

In some cases, the method may include: forming a radar cube of results; performing a fast fourier transform (FFT) on the radar cube; applying a constant false alarm rate (CFAR) processor to the FFT data; determining a capon gradient; forming a 5-dimensional feature space based on the capon gradient; and conducting an optimization of SVM.

摘要: An antenna and a method for direct matching the antenna to a transceiver is provided. The method includes designing the antenna to directly match an antenna impedance to at least one of an input impedance of the transceiver and an output impedance of the transceiver. The step of designing includes modeling the antenna and the transceiver and implementing an electromagnetic field simulation using a human body phantom model with the antenna to determine the value of an antenna parameter for the antenna model. The antenna for a communication device having a transceiver, includes an antenna element directly coupled with the transceiver having a transmitter and a receiver, an antenna parameter of the antenna element being tuned so that the real part of the impedance of the antenna is maximized, and a plate for optimizing the reactive part of the impedance of the antenna. The impedance of the antenna is directly matched to at least one of an impedance of the transmitter and an impedance of the receiver. The method for antenna design includes providing estimate of a package, designing possible realization(s) of the antenna given the space limitations of the package to realize maximum power transfer around the head, for a given design of LNA and PA, generating power efficiency maps for all possible bias realizations versus all possible impedance values of the antenna, and modifying the antenna design in order to maximize the overall link efficiency.

摘要: A multi-band antenna for multi-band radio frequency telecommunications. The multi-band antenna includes a conductive patch separated from a ground plane by a dielectric material. A slot pattern formed in the conductive patch defines a perimeter substantially surrounding two feed pins and arranged symmetrically about a center line. The slot pattern includes one or more inwardly extending arms projected along axes that pass between the two feed pins. The axes may be parallel to the center line. The slot pattern may be arranged using folded slots. In one embodiment, circular polarization is realized at GPS frequency by using one feed pin and linear or circular polarization is realized by using one or two feed pins for other bands. The feed pins may be controlled independently without a fixed phase and amplitude arrangement necessary to achieve a fixed polarization (linear, circular, or elliptical), which allows for adaptive pattern and polarization agility.
