A digital broadcast receiving/recording/reproducing device records and reproduces input streams in and on a recording/reproducing device, simultaneously records two streams, and reproduces one stream while reproducing the other recorded stream at the same time, thereby the streams can be viewed. The digital broadcast receiving/recording/reproducing device of the present invention extracts a distinctive part of video or audio data to be recorded, processes other video or audio data to be recorded at the same time in association with each other, creates a management file for processing information regarding the associated data, and records the created file together with the video or audio data to be recorded in a recording section. Then, the digital broadcast receiving/recording/reproducing device controls whether to reproduce the recorded video or audio data recorded based on the information of the management file.

In a television receiver including a video recording/reproducing apparatus therein, since reduction is quick in a recording space thereof if recording the high-definition television broadcast signal as it is, even including a recording medium, such as, a HDD of large capacity, for example, video, audio and caption data are extracted within a video extract portion 3, an audio extract portion 4, a caption extract portion 5 from a MPEG2-TS (Transport Stream) signal (TS=video+audio+caption data+BML (Broadcast Markup Language)+other data), but except for the BML data. And, those data extracted are recorded in a recording/reproducing portion 7.

In a video recording and reproducing apparatus, data is divided into a plurality of data blocks encrypted with corresponding encryption keys and is recorded in a recording medium such as a HDD. The recorded data is copied from a data source to a move destination in the recording medium. Then, the encryption keys are successively copied from the data source to the move destination in the recording medium and the encryption keys stored in the data source are deleted. Thereafter, the data blocks stored in the data source are simultaneously deleted. Accordingly, a risk that a recorded file being moved is divided due to an interruption may be reduced.

A digital broadcast receiver unit for determining the scanning method of the video signal of the selected program when signals multiplexed through a plurality of different scanning methods are received, processing these video signals by an appropriate video signal processor constituting a video encoder, and then outputting the result. This digital broadcast receiver unit includes a demodulator to tune in the channel of the received signal and perform demodulation, a multiplex isolator to isolate the audio, video and other types of data coded from the multiplex signals output from the demodulator, a decoder to decode the video signal and audio signal from the multiplex isolator, a plurality of video processors performing respectively different corresponding scanning methods and connected to an output of the decoder, an output selector to select from among outputs from the plurality of video processors, and a controller to control the output selector and determine the scanning method of the video signal of the selected program and also perform the appropriate processing based on the scanning method for the selected video signal.

In a video recording apparatus which records and reproduces digital TV broadcasting, an I-picture extraction processor that extracts packets containing I-pictures by analyzing a transport stream is arranged. Then, packets containing I-pictures is output, by reading predetermined amount of recorded data from an HDD in which recorded data is stored and by detecting start information and end information of the I-pictures. A stream for special reproduction is output by repeating the above-stated processes. With such arrangement, it is possible, even if data does not contain position information of I-picture, to execute special reproduction such as fast-forwarding reproduction for TV program data that is recorded as an MPEG-formatted transport stream.
