A method for measuring viscosity of liquid, in which a liquid detecting piece 3 is vibrated by a vibrator 1, vibration of the liquid detecting piece 3 in liquid 4 is detected, and viscosity of the liquid 4 is measured from vibration thus obtained, the method comprising the steps of detecting frequency and amplitude which are variable attributable to liquid-specific visco-elasticity from the vibration, obtaining impedance of the liquid from the frequency and the amplitude, and obtaining a dynamic viscosity from a real number part and an imaginary number part of the impedance. There is also disclosed a method for measuring visco-elasticity of liquid comprising the step of obtaining a dynamic viscosity, a dynamic elasticity and a static elasticity of the liquid from a real number part and an imaginary number part of the impedance. There is also disclosed an apparatus comprising a vibration-type liquid detecting apparatus U for performing the viscosity measurement and the visco-elasticity measurement, a frequency/amplitude detecting circuit 7, 8, an impedance computing circuit 9, a circuit 10a for computing a dynamic viscosity and a dynamic elasticity of the liquid and a circuit 10b for computing a static viscosity of the liquid.

Viscosity and elasticity of a liquid are measured by immersing and vibrating a liquid tester in the liquid to be tested and measuring three frequency values that are a resonance frequency value on an amplitude characteristic curve obtained through vibration of the liquid tester in the liquid being tested, a low frequency value lower than the resonance frequency value on the amplitude characteristic curve at a phase angle smaller than a phase angle of 90 degrees at a resonance point on a phase angle characteristic curve obtained through the vibration in the liquid being tested, and a high frequency value higher than the resonance frequency value on the amplitude characteristic curve at a phase angle larger than the phase angle at the resonance point on the phase angle characteristic curve.

Piezoelectric plates conduct bending vibrations and are axially symmetrical about the vibration shaft so the piezoelectric plates conduct a bending vibration, lower vibrating ends of the piezoelectric plates are rigidly connected to a vibration suppressing member and upper vibration ends of the piezoelectric plates are rigidly connected to the vibration shaft, an inner edge of each of the piezoelectric plates excluding the vibration connection part is free of the vibration shaft, a bending vibration at the lower vibrating end of each of the piezoelectric plates is suppressed on the vibration suppression connection part side and a bending vibration at the upper vibrating end is amplified and then applied to the vibration shaft and the liquid detecting element which is disposed at a lower end of the vibration shaft, through the vibration connection part, so that the liquid detecting element is vibrated in the circular direction in the measuring liquid.

A panel, rotatably attached to a body of a telephone set, is provided with a rib having the first and second convex parts. A slide member, slidably held by a panel receiving portion of the body, is provided with a leaf spring which is in contact with a rib supporting portion and the panel receiving portion. When the panel rotates from the panel receiving portion to a position at a desired angle, the first or second convex part of the rib pushes the rib supporting portion, and the slide member then slides relative to the panel receiving portion while causing elastic deformation of the leaf spring. Once the first or second convex part of the rib passes through the rib supporting portion, the slide member is returned to an original position by the leaf spring, and the rib supporting portion supports the rib. Once the slide member slides, the panel rotates from the position at the desired angle to the panel receiving portion, and the slide member is returned to the original position by the leaf spring.

A noise canceling microphone unit composes a noise canceling handset by the use of a normal housing for a normal handset. The unit comprises a noise canceling microphone element having first and second sound sensing surface, a microphone holder having a hollow cylinder and a vent tube, and a circuit board. The hollow cylinder has opposite first and second open ends and holds the microphone element so that the first sound sensing surface is directed to but short of the first open end while the second sound sensing surface is directed to but short of the second open end. The hollow cylinder is mounted in the housing so that the first open end faces a mouthpiece surface of the housing. The circuit board closes the second open end. The vent tube is opened in the hollow cylinder at a side of the second open end and opened to the outside of the housing through a side surface facing a different direction from the direction that the mouthpiece surface faces.

A vibrating member, including a vibration transmission shaft, is adapted to vibrate a liquid viscosity detector with respect to an axis of the shaft. The liquid viscosity detector is disposed at one end of the vibration transmission shaft so it can be dipped in a liquid to be measured. A bearing portion is disposed at an intermediate position of the vibration transmission shaft. The viscosity detector includes an inertia mass disposed on the vibration transmission shaft along the central axis thereof. The viscosity detector is positioned on the opposite side of the shaft relative to the liquid detector, with the bearing portion located therebetween. Also provided is a node alignment mechanism for displacing the whole inertia mass along the central axis of the shaft, or a part of the inertia mass toward or away from the shaft axis or along the direction of the axis.

A shock generating position storage unit includes an acceleration sensor for detecting an impulsive wave or shock applied to a vehicle during transportation thereof, a storage unit for storing data representative of such impulsive wave or shock, and a global positioning system (GPS) for determining a position of the vehicle along a travel path based on a radio wave received from an artificial satellite. Data of the travel position at a time when data of the impulsive wave or shock detected by the acceleration sensor exceeds a predetermined minimum value is sent to the storage unit from the GPS at the same time the impulsive wave or shock data is sent thereto.
