    摘要: A free point tool has at least one sensor to measure deformation of a stuck conduit in a borehole. A set of anchors is located adjacent to and on each side of the sensor. The anchors include anchor arms that move from a stowed position to an extended position. Each of the anchor arms has a pad, which pad has a contact face. The contact face is structured and arranged to engage the conduit. The pad is coupled to the respective anchor arm in an articulating manner, such as by a pin joint or a ball and socket joint. The pad can be easily coupled to or disconnected from the arm. This allows the pad to be selected for the downhole conditions, including conduit physical characteristics and environmental conditions downhole. The anchors also include cam arms coupled between the anchor arms and an actuator. There are provided at least two sets of anchor linkages of cam arms and anchor arms so as to adapt to the conduit inside diameter.

    摘要: The present invention relates generally to the use of polyaryletherketone-based thermoplastic materials in high pressure, high temperature, production logging applications. A polyaryletherketone resin bonded with glass fibers is formed into a housing for formation evaluation sensors permanently located downhole. The housing is constructed by any of the following processes: filament winding, fiber placement, or compression molding or injection molding. When used in a production well, the housing encloses the formation evaluation sensors and protects the sensors from borehole fluids. Housing properties can be modified with changes in materials added to the resin in order for the housing to function as casing or coiled tubing. This would allow wireline or logging-while-drilling conveyed sensors passing through the casing or coiled tubing to sense the formation and borehole fluid properties.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for navigating a tool string down a subsurface borehole to its intended location while simultaneously measuring or sensing the borehole environment, electrically, acoustically, mechanically, or by nuclear means, for a characteristic parameter. The hole-finder apparatus incorporating a locally flexible body adapted for attachment to the tool string. As the tool string is navigated through the borehole, the flexible body provides extreme local flexibility to lessen the likelihood of jamming the tool string while tripping down the borehole by providing a lateral force at the obstruction. The hole-finder apparatus further including a sensor or probe measuring means attached to or within the tip of the flexible body for measuring the characteristic parameter. With the sensor or measurement means disposed at the tip of the apparatus, the sense point is moved to the bottom of the tool string to provide borehole characteristic measurements having little effect on, or momentary influence from, the formation without impeding the apparatus' hole-finding capability. In addition, data representative of the borehole or formation characteristic parameter is communicated from the apparatus to a distant point by wiring.
