Abstract:
An image fixing device having at least a pair of rotatable members for fixing a toner image on an image supporting material. In order to provide a simple structure in which the image supporting material can be readily and positively removed during jamming or the like, the apparatus includes a discharge device selectively shiftable between a normal position and a temporal retracted position, a first power transmitting member for applying a driving force to one of the rotatable members, a second power transmitting member for applying a driving force from a source of power to the first power transmitting member, cooperating elements for positioning the first and second power transmitting members selectively at an operative position in which the members cooperate to transmit the driving force and at an inoperative position in which the first power transmitting member is separated from the second power transmitting member, and a manually operable member for rotating at least one of the pair of rotatable members.
Abstract:
An image projector is adapted to change the magnification of a projected image by moving a zoom lens with its focal length being changed, wherein the zoom lens is moved to and then stopped at a goal position from the initial position in the first direction. When it is desired to move the zoom lens to another goal position in the second direction opposite to the first direction as viewed from the initial position, the zoom lens is once moved to its reversal position beyond the second goal position and thereafter moved from the reversal position to the second goal position.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an image forming apparatus capable of controlling the image forming conditions in different modes according to the magnification of the image to be formed, or according to the process speed.
Abstract:
A cleaning apparatus for a copying machine employs a resilient cleaning roller 8 which presses against and forms a nip with the surface of a photosensitive member 1. The roller 8 has a hollow shaft 13 through which a driving shaft 14 is received. Driving force is transmitted to the resilient cleaning roller 8 at the end of the driving shaft 14 which is remote from the end thereof where a driving force is applied. In consequence, the nip between the photosensitive member 1 and the resilient cleaning roller 8 is favorably stabilized. It is therefore possible to minimize the risk of the photosensitive member 1 being damaged and to enhance the effect of the cleaning apparatus in removing charging products which cling to the surface of the photosensitive member. Further, it conveniently becomes unnecessary to effect any delicate adjustment of the position of the cleaning roller 8.
Abstract:
Variable magnification copying apparatus wherein the optical element for forming an image of the original on a photosensitive member is displaceable for magnification change. The amount of displacement is controlled on the basis of the count of pulses generated by the pulse generator. The optical element is, as desired, restored to a reference position, and then moved to an object position by counting a predetermined number of pulses.
Abstract:
A developer supply device for supplying an image forming apparatus with a developer includes a developer accomodating container having an opening for supplying the developer, and a member for opening and closing the opening of the container. The developer accomodating container is slid to be positioned at a predetermined position. The direction of movement of the openable and closable member to open the opening coincides with the direction of the sliding movement for being positioned. A force needed for the movement of the openable and closable member is arranged to be larger than a force needed for the sliding movement of the developer accomodating container. The device also includes a regulating member, which prevents the developer accomodating container from being moved from the predetermined position when the openable and closable member is opened. In order to prevent mismounting of an improper developer accomodating container, engagement between the developer accomodating container and a mounting portion for the container is arranged to be different in accordance with the kind of the developer.
Abstract:
This specification discloses a sheet feeding device for feeding sheets from a sheet supporting bed such as a cassette or a deck, and more particularly a sheet feeding device having a sheet supporting bed holding sheets thereon and adapted to be removably mounted at a predetermined position in an image forming apparatus, a rotatable member for contacting the sheets on the sheet supporting bed and feeding the sheets when the sheet supporting bed is mounted at the predetermined position in the image forming apparatus, support means for supporting the rotatable member for idle rotation by a predetermined amount in a forward direction and a reverse direction, and intermittent means for intermittently connecting the support means to a drive source. The sheet supporting bed includes, for example, a cassette type one which can be perfectly removed from the image forming apparatus or, for example, a drawing type one which can be pulled out and inserted relative to the predetermined position while remaining engaged with the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
A sheet feeding apparatus for feeding a sheet to a sheet receiving device includes a first unit having at least one stacking tray for stacking sheets; a first feeder for feeding the sheet from the stacking tray of the first unit; a first guiding member for guiding the sheet from the first feeder to the receiving device; a second guiding member for guiding a side of the sheet opposite from a side guided by the first guiding member to constitute together with the first guiding member a sheet passage; a second unit having at least one stacking tray for stacking sheets; second feeder for feeding the sheet from the stacking tray of the second unit; a third guiding member for guiding the sheet from the second feeder to the receiving device; and a supporting device for supporting the first unit to the second unit for movement between a first position wherein the first guiding member guides the sheet from the first feeder and a second position wherein at least one of the first guiding member and the second guiding member are exposed.
Abstract:
A variable magnification copying apparatus capable of not only one-to-one magnification copying but also reduction copying, and particularly a variable magnification copying apparatus of the slit exposure scanning type which is capable of two or more types of reduction copying and which uses two movable mirrors and an in-mirror lens on the object side, characterized in that the optical axis of the in-mirror lens is set non-parallel to an original carriage to make the apparatus compact and during magnification change, the in-mirror lens and the second movable mirror are initially displaced by predetermined distances in predetermined directions, whereby the object point position and image point position of an image forming principal light ray on the original supporting surface and photosensitive surface are made fixed irrespective of the copying magnification.
