    摘要: A sheet processing machine transmits information indicating a degree of contamination or damage for each sheet detected by a discrimination unit to a teller PC as a discrimination result. The teller PC saves the discrimination result received from the sheet processing machine in a data storage unit. A CPU of the teller PC decides reference levels that can attain good bill ratio designated by the user for respective items required to discriminate good/bad states of a sheet based on the previous discrimination results saved in the data storage unit. The CPU of the teller PC sets the reference levels that can attain the good bill ratio designated by the user in the discrimination unit of the sheet processing machine. The discrimination unit set with such reference levels discriminates good/bad states of sheets based on the reference levels set by the teller PC.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, a document handling apparatus includes an image detection unit including a plurality of light sources to irradiate a surface of a paper sheet as an inspection target with light from two different directions, and a light receiving unit configured to receive reflected light from the surface of the paper sheet, and configured to detect an image on the surface of the paper sheet, and a detected information processing unit configured process detected information from the image detection unit and determine a defacement degree of the paper sheet. The detected information processing unit is configured to detect gray contamination of the paper sheet from an image detected by simultaneously turning on the plurality of light sources and to detect wrinkles or folds of the paper sheet from an image detected by turning on one of the plurality of light sources.

    摘要: An apparatus is capable of reading a character or graphics image on a document at a plurality of reading linear densities. An illuminating device for illuminating the document, a focusing device for focusing the light beam reflected by the document, and a CCD reading sensor for converting the focused light beam into an electric image signal, are integrally assembled together to constitute a carriage device. This carriage device is shifted in a desirable shifting which is determined on the basis of the reading sensitivity of the CCD reading sensor and which corresponds to the linear reading density. The rotation speed of a driving device used for driving the carriage device is reduced to a desirable value by means of a transmission, the conversion ratio of which is determined on the basis of the least common multiple (LCM) of a plurality of reading linear densities. The driving pulses which should be supplied to the driving device can be easily calculated by use of the product of the "reference pulse " .phi.p and the "multiplier unit" Un, which are also determined on the basis of the above least common multiple.

    摘要: A line sensor apparatus is adapted to read a character or pattern image on a document. In this apparatus, an illumination device for illuminating the document, a optical lens for focusing the light beam reflected by the document, a CCD line reading sensor for photoelectrically converting the light beam focused by the optical lens into an electric signal, and a holding member for holding the CCD line sensor and the optical lens are assembled as one body in such a manner as to constitute a carriage device. A uniformly radiated heat-radiating plate is in contact with the entire botttom surface of a support for the CCD line sensor, so that the heat generated by the CCD line sensor is radiated from the heat-radiating plate. Further, the CCD line sensor is kept in tight contact with the holding member, so that the heat generated by the CCD line sensor is also radiated from the holding member.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for identifying the color image of an object. The object's image is digitized and a cut-off portion of the image containing the object is determined. The cut-off portion image data is normalized. Selected pixels of the normalized image are subjected to an averaging process to provide an averaged image containing R, G, and B color components. H, V, and C components of the averaged image data are computed, and their V, c, and d components are computed from the H, V, and C components. A color feature extractor computes from the c and d component data a parameter representative of the object to be identified. This parameter is provided to a memory controller to retrieve from a memory that stores target images one or more images categorized according to the computed parameter. A matching section matches each retrieved target image with the Vcd component data and determines which target image is most similar.
