    摘要: An image reading apparatus includes a light emitting element, a luminance calculating unit, a light amount setting unit, and a storing unit. The light amount setting unit, in each line period, causes the light emitting element to emit a light with gradually changing a reference light amount from a reference light amount set as a default value from among a plurality of reference light amounts stored in the storing unit, identifies a reference light amount so that the luminance calculated by the luminance calculating unit is within a predetermined range, sets the identified reference light amount as a default value for the next line period, and causes the storing unit to store that reference light amount.

    摘要: A read image processing apparatus is provided for processing a read image read by line image sensors arranged such that one end parts of which adjacent to each other are overlapped in a sub-scanning direction. The read image processing apparatus includes a density variation detector, a seam processor, and a line image generator. The density variation detector detects whether a density variation occurs for not less than a predetermined number of times or not in each of a plurality of regions in a seam-read image. The seam processor generates a seam image by synthesizing the seam-read images read by the line image sensors adjacent to each other in accordance with a detection result made by the density variation detector. The line image generator generates a read image corresponding to one line based on read images read by the line image sensors and the seam image generated by the seam processor.

    摘要: An image processing apparatus is provided with an area sensor which is formed by arranging sensor components for a pixel in a two-dimensional array and is attached in an inclined manner with respect to a reference installation position. The apparatus has a sensor unit which reads, from the sensor components which are determined based on an inclination angle indicating an inclination of the area sensor from the reference installation position and have been arranged within the area sensor, image data in which the inclination has been corrected; an image obtaining unit which obtains a plurality of frames of image data having a shift of less than one pixel, by scanning an original document image once by the sensor unit; and a high resolution conversion unit which obtains image data with a resolution higher than resolutions of the sensor components by using the obtained image data to perform interpolation processing.

An encoder for sensing position of a scanner carriage comprises a grating disposed in a scanner housing, and an optical sensor for sensing the grating during biased movement of a scanner carriage, the sensor providing carriage position information for rastering an image of scanned media.
