Abstract: There are many inventions described herein as well as many aspects and embodiments of those inventions. A thigh compression device and technique to control, time, delay and/or prevent excessive early venous enhancement relative to arterial enhancement and thereby improve and/or enhance MRA images, including peripheral MRA images. In one embodiment, the present invention uses a curved strip of material which is longer on the superior edge and shorter along the inferior edge. When wrapped around the conical or conal-like shape of the thigh of a subject (for example, a human), the thigh compression device more uniformly conforms to and/or fits around the thigh, providing more even/uniform compression as well as reducing, minimizing and/or eliminating significant movement of the thigh compression device towards the knees of the subject. Notably, a snug fit on the thighs may also enable the thigh compression device to be inflated with less fluid (for example, air) which is faster and less cumbersome for the operator.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an implantable apparatus for obtaining urinary control and emptying of the urinary bladder. The apparatus operates with a powered member (100) operating from the outside of the urinary bladder assisted by a support structure to discharge urine from the urinary bladder. A control device (200) controls the operation of the powered member. The control device further comprises a source of energy for operating the powered member and other energy consuming parts of the apparatus and a control assembly.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to devices, systems and methods adapted for implementing intermittent displacement of blood to mitigate peripheral nerve neuropathy such as that induced by chemotherapeutic agents (i.e., chemotherapy-induced neuropathy (CIN)) that are administered to a patient. Such devices, systems and methods advantageously provide for precise, uniform and controlled blood flow occluding (and optionally blood displacing) compression along irregular surfaces of an appendage of a patient. Such precise, uniform and controlled blood occluding compression is imparted upon the epidermal and dermis skin layers within the aforementioned areas of a patient's extremities to decrease the time that free nerve endings located in the epidermal and encapsulated nerve endings located in the dermis skin layers are exposed to nerve damaging chemotherapy chemicals, thereby substantially decreasing CIN caused by prolonged exposure to such chemicals.

Abstract: A method of determining blood pressure measurements includes inflating a cuff, receiving an indication of pressure inside the cuff during inflation, determining a blood pressure based at least in part on the received indication, assigning a confidence level to the blood pressure, and determining whether the confidence level satisfies a threshold confidence level. Based at least on a determination that the confidence level satisfies a threshold confidence level, the method can include causing a display to display the blood pressure. Based at least on a determination that the confidence level does not satisfy a threshold confidence level, the method can include deflating the cuff, receiving an indication of pressure inside the cuff during deflation, determining another blood pressure, and causing a display to display a blood pressure.

Abstract: A hemostatic device includes a flexible band allowed to be wrapped around a wrist in which a radial artery and an ulnar artery run, a hook and loop fastener that secures the band in a state of being wrapped around the wrist, an inflatable portion connected to the band and allowed to press a puncture site of the radial artery by being inflated in response to injection of a fluid, and a pressing member disposed at a different position from a position of the inflatable portion in a longitudinal direction of the band and allowed to press the ulnar artery. Further, a length of the pressing member along the longitudinal direction of the band is shorter than a width of the pressing member along a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the band.

Abstract: The apparatus and method for hemostasis that informs the provider as to whether the appropriate magnitude of pressure is being applied to a puncture site on a patient. A visual pulse indicator can visually convey whether or not there is proper blood flow at the puncture site based on the pulsing motion encountered by the visual pulse indicator on the puncture site. The visual pulse indicator can potentially factor in a variety of different input parameters in displaying information that is useful to providers.
