摘要: The present invention is directed to an RNAi-inducing agent capable of reducing and/or inhibiting the expression of proteins associated with the tight junction complex joining Schlemm's canal endothelial cells (SCEC) in the eye of a subject for use in the prevention and/or treatment of glaucoma. Specifically, the RNAi-inducing agent is capable of reducing and/or inhibiting the expression of proteins expressed in the tight junction complex or supporting the tight junction complex joining Schlemm's canal endothelial cells (SCEC) in the eye of a subject for use in the prevention and/or treatment of glaucoma. Methods using this RNAi-inducing agent are also contemplated.

摘要: An implantable biocompatible expander suitable for implantation into a urinary duct, comprises an elongated sinusoidal ring comprising at least two proximal prongs and at least two distal prongs, wherein the expander is resiliently deformable from a relaxed radially expanded orientation to a radially contracted orientation suitable for transluminal delivery through the urinary duct. The expander is configured to exert an outward radial force against a wall of the urinary duct when in-situ within the urinary duct. In particular, the expander is suitable for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and configured for implantation into the prostatic urethra between, and substantially spanning the prostatic urethra between, the bladder neck and external sphincter.

摘要: A thermal structure for dissipating heat from a semiconductor substrate has a semiconductor substrate having an external surface which may be roughened. An optional base layer comprising aluminium is formed on top of the external surface by a cold spraying process, and a top layer comprising a matrix of copper and diamond is formed above the substrate, and above the base layer if present, by cold spraying a powder mixture of copper and diamond particles. The top layer is thereby created as a matrix of copper formed by the deformation of the copper particles on impact with the underlying surface and a dispersed phase comprising the diamond particles embedded within the copper matrix. The resulting structure has high thermal conductivity and a coefficient of thermal expansion that is well matched to the substrate, and eliminates the need for a thermal interface material or paste.

摘要: A system and method suitable for monitoring user technique of an inhaler device configured for delivery of a medicament is provided. The system may include a microphone adapted for sensing sound made during operation of the inhaler device and processing circuitry operable to process a data signal obtained from the microphone, wherein the data signal includes acoustic information sensed. The processing circuitry is adapted to determine inhalation and exhalation breath characteristics that occur during use, by analyzing the temporal and spectral components of the acoustic information sensed and processed to differentiate between an inhalation and an exhalation, based on both the temporal and spectral components. This information can be processed to determine user technique adherence to inhaler or respiratory device protocol. The analysis of temporal and spectral components can determine the impact of user technique errors on the quantity and the deposition of medicament delivered into the user's airways.
