Abstract: In accordance with some configurations, systems and methods for guided removal from an in vivo subject are provided. In some configurations, a method for removing an object is provided. The method comprising, guiding a flexible tube through a passageway of an in vivo subject, wherein the flexible tube comprises at least a first passageway and a second passageway. Positioning a distal end of the first passageway in proximity to the object. Infusing liquid through the second passageway substantially continuously. Removing the object through the first passageway with at least a portion of the liquid while suction is not being provided.

Abstract: Systems are described, including a system that includes an insertion device with a shaft and a distribution adapter with a housing and a piston. The shaft includes irrigation and aspiration channels providing a fluid circulation through a target area of a body within which the shaft is inserted. The housing includes first and second pairs of diametrically opposed ports. A first port of the first pair is connected to an irrigation port and a second port of the first pair is connected to the irrigation channel. A first port of the second pair is connected to an aspiration port coupled to a negative pressure source and a second port of the second pair is connected to the aspiration channel. The piston is slidably received within a cavity of the housing to be movable between default and reverse configurations.

Abstract: A robotic surgical system comprises a horizontal platform to support a patient, a rail positioned about the horizontal platform, a carriage operatively coupled to and configured to translate along the rail, and a robotic arm operatively coupled to the carriage and translated about the patient by the rail. The robotic arm is configured to operate on the patient in a variety of positions provided by the translating carriage. The rail provides a rounded path for the carriage, such as a U-shaped path. The U-shaped path may comprise a first leg and a second leg, the first leg longer than the second leg. Furthermore, the system may comprise a plurality of carriages operatively coupled to the rail and a plurality of robotic arms. Also, the system may further comprise a central base which the horizontal platform can articulate relative to, such as by translating horizontally or vertically, rotating, or titling.

Abstract: A medical instrument for insertion into and removal of kidney stone fragments from a urinary tract of a patient body includes a flexible elongate shaft coupled with a fragment retaining mechanism. The retaining mechanism can be configured to retain a plurality of fragments so that the plurality of fragments is removed from the patient with a single insertion/extraction cycle of the instrument. A fragment gathering mechanism urges fragments toward the retaining mechanism. In use, the instrument can be inserted through a working channel of a ureteroscope.

Abstract: Guided percutanous device and method for providing visual representations of organ registration and tracking during a guided percutaneous procedure using an electromagnetic tracking (EMT) system comprising an EMT field generator and tracker defining an EMT coordinate system, a catheter with a EMT sensor for placing in the organ to indicate a percutaneous procedure target, a needle with an EMT sensor, an ultrasound (US) probe with an EMT sensor, and an electronic data processor configured for carrying out the steps of: loading preoperative imaging data; receiving 3D poses of the catheter, needle and US probe from the EMT; receiving intraoperative imaging data; calculating transformation matrices and multiplying said matrices to transform said imaging data and needle pose to a catheter pose; generating a visual representation of the transformed imaging data and needle pose for displaying on a user interface; generating a visual representation of the transformed registered preoperative imaging data for displaying on a user interface.
