A first content update is detected in the active window, and a signal to produce an audible notification in response to the detection of the first content update is provided to the user's device. After a subsequent content update is detected in the active window, an elapsed time from the audible notification in response to the detection of the first content update is determined. A signal to produce an audible notification in response to the detection of the subsequent content update is provided to the user's device when the elapsed time is longer than a predetermined interval.
